It is hard to get any work done on them when you're having so much fun driving it around :)
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

The trick is to put the car down so that it can't be driven unless you complete the particular job. That's motivation!
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

Ive got a few things that will require that here shortly .

Ive been chasing down my oil leak thats been getting all over the passenger side header and hood/fender. After using some oil dye I found out I have 3 oil leaks all in the same area.
This motor has an external oil pump . which I like .
1.) has been coming from the big bolt on the upper left.
2.) is the main gasket for the oil pump .
3.) is the oil pressure sending unit (upper right) chrome looking thing.
4th is the filter but it just needed tightening .

After I was sure the leaks were sealed I gave her an oil change for the year .
Tomorrow she gets a bath .  8)

Did the rear bushings before I went on the trip. It was badly needed .

Got a bit creative installing them .

Also picked up a spare wheel . Almost didnt find one but I looked under a few wheels at a junkyard and found exactly what I have (15x7 from a caprice) "the deep wheel".
Even the owner of the junkyard said these are getting rare around here.
Couldnt find a tire in time . So I barrowed my dads spare for the trip.

I must say the car rode sooooooo much better with the new bushings.

Finally put in the passenger window, just had to get the old protective film off first. Took forever.
Used silicone to glue the window to the slider channel. Holds well. Roll's up and down.

Well, its the end of the season. I gotta burn up some guzzaline this week before it gets put away and put down for some construction this winter (maybe next summer too) .
So far Ive completed all the goals I had for the car , been to almost all the places I wanted to go and since she's proved she's street worthy . Its time to start fixing the steering and replacing the wood frame .

Rattiac, I was going over some old posts, and I want to ask you about the rear shackle bushings. Did you use rubber or nylon bushings and what is your trick? I used rubber on mine and they were a bixch!! They never went in quite they way I wanted or expected, and thay are already starting to check and split. Thanks!   Jim

I used a big long bolt and some washers/spacers I had, a impact gun and wrench  . The spring guy that lives by me told me to use anti-sieze but it didnt work very well (he is in sales) . Id probably use some silicone spray or WD, white lithium grease or other spray to help lube it in.
One already cracked/split  when I got home but no biggie since I'll be getting new leafs in the spring/summer. Still rollin on original leafs in the back.  :o
My Left rear leaf is a bit flatter than my R.R. and the car leans to the left a tad.
If you can find some polyurathane bushings. They go in alot easier , just using a hammer.
I have a pair for back-ups that go to a jeep that would work with just a tad of grinding . If you have a Jeep shop or 4 wheel Parts by ya . CJ7 bushings work for our old cars.
Around here if you say its for a hotrod , they tell ya they cant find it or want too much $$$ .
