4 Link
« on: August 16, 2013, 11:41:15 AM »
My 1930 has a 1957 rear end with lief springs and 2" lowering blocks and I don't like the ride.  Instead of tweaking the current setup, I was thinking of going with a 4-link by RideTech.

What are you opinions?

I have a RideTech 4-link under my 35 with shockwaves and I think that the ride is better than leafs.  I have to adjust the shockwaves a little before it was perfect, but I can't complain about it at all.

Did you buy it as a kit or did you get the universal and choose shocks?

I bought it as a universal 4-link kit.  I believe from Yogi's.  If I remember correctly the shockwaves came with the kit. It was the parallel kit, but I did have to raise the floor about 2 inches to clear the panhard bar in the dropped position.  I think on my 34 I may run the triangulated kit instead.  I have spoke with a couple guys who used the triangulated and they said they didn't have to modify the floor.  If you would like I probably have the part number in my paperwork.  I can look it up tonight if you would like.  I also have pics of the install if you would like to take a look at them.  Just let me know.

I have attached the pics I have from when I was building the car.  I can get more if you need them.  Just let me know what you want to see.  I will see if I can find you the part # tonight or tomorrow.

I thought about a triangulated 4 bar for mine but went with a Posies Rear Leaf Kit.  I haven't driven it yet so I can't comment on how it rides.  A couple of my friends went with the triangulated 4 bar and have been very happy with it.
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

The part number for my 4 link was SKW7000P, but I checked Yogi's site and it looks like they don't sell this kit anymore. The kit did include the Ridetech universal parallel 4 link and 7000 series shockwaves.  Please let me know if you need any additional info.

Hey Tom.
I have used the stainless triangulated install in my last 4 builds and love the ride with adjustable coilovers, I don't need the panard bar when using the triangulated install. What did you do with the triangulated unit that you did not use?

John,
I wanted to use a 10 bolt Chevy to keep my drive train all Chevy.  The triangulated 4 bar was going to use a Ford 9" so a friend of mine used it in a rod he was building.

TFoch,

With the leaf setup does it ride high?  Mine came with only three leafs because I think they wanted it to sit low.
