They might test your patience, but it didn't compromise your skill, they look great. Agreed, Tom, my Mustang has been begging for a new top for several years. It's hard to find someone that does good work that I will trust.

I'm having a time trying to get the drive shaft right on my '32. It was too short, so I ordered a new one to the correct length, $275. Problem is, the yoke they sent is a larger diameter than the one I have. So, I do a little research and find GM used two different sized yokes on the TH400. I contact the shop and they want to be helpful, but they only carry the larger yoke. Now, I have a decision, send back the driveshaft, shipping is about $70. or use my old yoke, that is what I am leaning towards, because this whole thing might get a little costly in the long run. Ugh!

Will you have to cut their yoke off and weld the smaller one on? Is it the front or rear yoke? There is a U joint the has two sizes of bearings that is for adapting different sizes. I don't remember the number.
Any decent machine shop could change the yoke. I've done several and never had an issue. The balance on a small diameter on the end of a shaft is not nearly as touchy as a large diameter like a wheel mounted to springs. The only one I had that had a vibration was done in a custom driveline shop.

It's the front yoke and the "U" joints appear to be the same size. All I have to do is use my old front join, I was just hoping to have a new one, and since it was included in the drive shaft price I figure I paid for one. Here's a couple pictures of what I have and what they sent.

If the U joint is the same the shop you got it from should be able to send you the piece you need. If they knew there are two different ones they should have asked which one you needed. If you want a new one like you have any auto parts store can get one. You may have to convince the counter person that they can get it. Is the clean band on the old one as far as it went into the tranny? I can see why you wanted it in there a little more.   :)

You are right on all counts, Sixball. The shop said they didn't know there are two sizes and they only carry the size they sent me, their only option is to return it. I can buy a new one easy enough, but they're about $70. So my choices are: $70. for new yoke, $70. to return the drive shaft (and then buy another somewhere) or use my existing yoke? I think my best option is to use the existing yoke. Which as you pointed out goes in as far as that clean band, this new drive shaft will push it in about another inch, I think that will be ok.

computer hunting for window screen "spline" and where locally to get it. Why ??  Installed new 34-35 chev head light reflectors and the supplied rubber is way to thick to seal head lights. also is 1/4" square.

So see if i can find some 3/16" round round spline and maybe spot glue in ,   with gorilla glue , to stop rattle of using without a spline .
