Went to test the new ammo today. Cycled 75 shots no problem with the 1300fps in it.
The Limbsaver  slip on recoil reducer helped alot, that is until I loaded the 1475's in. Then it kicks like a mofo.😮
Had a hill to myself in the desert, nobody around.
Actually attracted a few people over when they heard me shooting. One guy says he loves the sound it has.

I was not a fan of small caliber rifles, nothing smaller than .30 until I traded for a custom #1 Ruger single shot in .219 Donaldson Wasp. It is a wildcat that I have form cases for from the 25-35 30-30 family. They are necked down, shoulder moved back and shortened. It can shoot the same bullets as a .223 about 200 fps faster. Its a lot of trouble but it fills the same niche as hot rods.  :o It is fun to load for and shoot, very accurate and almost no recoil. Devastating on small game as faraway as I can see it. It would be good for coyotes, Or bad depending on your view.  ;D

2nd choice is my Model 94   7-30 Waters  30-30 cal necked downed to 7mm at 2700 fps

Long ago I got a Mossberg 500, the "riot" gun model. I put a pistol grip in place of the stock. I fired 1 round of 2 3/4" 12 gauge magnum (1,400fps). I still have the gun and the pistol grip but the grip is in a drawer somewhere. My friend fired one round from my Marlin 45 long Colt carbine and handed it back. The same load I hunt with in a Ruger Blackhawk is a bruiser in the little lever carbine. I worked up a load for my Marlin new model 1895 45-70 using data from an article in Gun Digest. It pushes a jacketed 350 gain jacketed bullet at 200 fps. Sort of a giant 22 mag, recoil is more than noticeable. The cool thing is that ten rounds out of either of these lever guns make my 7mm mag or 06 seem pretty tame.  ;D
What I traded for the #1 Ruger .219 was a #2 Ruger 45-70 carbine,6 1/2 lb.,straight stock, no recoil pad. I was a thumper with commercial 400 grain loads. Shooting the hot loads was an exercise in some sort of masochism.  ::) At 75 I don't enjoy recoil as much as I used to.  :)

Yesterday I pulled the L.R wheel on my jeep to see why my airbag sleeve was flat. Found the leak and proceeded to patch it.
Then I noticed a crack in the main leaf. 😢
Good thing my neighbor is a leafspring guy. 😊

Nice, should help the ride!
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

Wow, look at those cracks.
I have to be careful about the front bolt. I've heard some horror stories about the caged nut inside the unibody.  :o
Last night it wouldn't budge.

I've never seen one break like that before and I've busted a lot of springs.  :)

Well that didn't last long. Went out and tested the breaker bar, wouldn't budge. Grabbed the torch and had enough gas to get it red, I let it sit for a minute. Tried again with the breaker bar and it slipped off. Smacking the top of my hand pretty good. Ran inside to wash it off and .... apparently passed out 😮. No, I just wanted to sleep it off.
Ambulance showed up checked everything out. Luckily no broken bones , just embarrassed.
Thinking hard about hiring a mechanic to do this.
I hate to do this but it beats a hospital bill.

sold the original front and rear calipers on ebay from a 1960--1964 XKE jaguar , that was on THEE TUBB.
Spent 3 hours making a crate out of 1 1/2 square spruce to hold them.  The set of 4 weigh 40 pounds and box has to be strong enough.  Used 3" deck screws along with no more nails adhesive plus 1/2 ply top and bottom.

If they UPS send this down a chute into a large collection container, anything it hits is going to get smashed, crushed.

Holy Crap! Glad you are not seriously hurt. I once justified buying a Triumph 650 by telling my wife the only way I could hurt myself on it is if the wrench slipped. That turned out not to be true. My old skin tears so easily now that I have to wear gloves a lot. I hate to wear gloves to do mechanic work.

I wrapped up my hand with some stretchy gauze, it keeps the swelling down. I can move my fingers good. Hard to make a fist though.
Glad it wasn't worse. These are my money makers.
