Congrats John on the new project! I'm sure it'll be top notch as the ones in the past.  Looking forward to the pictures.

Congratulations John!! Keep us posted on the build. I think It's great that your keeping it all Buick. That 401 should really get the job done.

I think you knew you were going to buy that car when you first posted about it ;)
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

Patience grass hopper.
I now have a large pile of parts in my shop that hopefully this after noon I can sort through. There is a lot of parts and boxes to go through. The buick came with an early factory version of a 1/4 eliptical rear spring set up that I am gonna try to incorporate back into this build since the springs and all the hardware came with it. As for the rear,  I have an 8 and 3/4 70 cuda complete rear axle, and for the front I have a real nice 1939 plymouth truck front axle with juice drum brakes, I am gonna try to use. As said before the powerplant is gonna be a 62 buick 401 4 barrel nail head. I am still undecided on the transmission choice maybe with my new knees a 4 speed is not out of line. I am thinking on full fendered, running boards, and splash aprons, BUT HIBOY IS NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION. It did not come with rear fenders, running boards, or the splash aprons, So the search is on for these items or some close enough to work so keep your eyes open for them guys. I will bob the frame in the rear and put a rolled pan back there . The gas tank will be hidden in the trunk with a early mopar gas cap fill system on top of the driver quarter panel.  It will have a roll bar in it just for safety. The car even though classified as a roadster from the factory did have a non removable top with removable side or window screens that I got with the car. I will incorporate a soft folding top that will hopefully work with all these factory original items. It came with the original steering collumn and 4 spoke wheel that I am gonna try to use. No headlight came with it, so an early guide style is to my liking. If you have any ideas you guys like send them along. I think this is gonna be a fun filled build for me and I can't wait to get started, but my knees have to heal a little bit more. Can you tell I am exciterd....John

Don't know if these will work but they're bound to be similar.

Hey John Thanks. Those splash aprons might be a little smaller than the buick item, but I will look into them. I wish I had them when I built my 27 chevy. The splash aprons are a simple bend from 18 guage metal that I can probably do, but they wouldn't have the detail that the original buick had. Thanks guys for keeping a look out for parts.

I know some of you guys have read this on the HAMB,
I did spend some time out in the shop today just fabbing up the body of the buick. It was twisted up pretty bad, but with a little coaxing it started to look like a car again. Mostly I tacked all the panels together so I can start a steel  skeleton interior, and  mock up the steel for the hinges for  the doors and trunk. The cockpit is rather large for a 20s model so seating and leg room is going to be plenty, and the engine bay is large enough to put a big detroit Diesel in there so the 401 should fit just fine. I am not sure why my pic's are always so large. HELP
You guys have a look....John

Looks good....I can't wait to see the finished car. Keep um coming!!

You can reduce the size of your pictures without any special software.Just open the pic in MS Paint (comes with all editions of windows )
and choose at the top of the page Image and then Stretch/Skew and then in the box that opens just put in the percentage that you want the picture to be.For example if you want it to be reduced to 50% of its original size just enter 50 for both the horizontal and vertical dimensions and click OK and then go to file  and Save As and enter a name for the reduced pic. Choose Save As and rename so you don't change the size of the original picture.
