I went by a buddys house the other day to check on some splash aprons he had, it turn out they were 33 chevy units. So Tom If I don't end up using them I'll let ya know. I n the process of looking around he showed me a set of stainless headlights and support bar he thought they were for a model A. I found out they were for a 32 ford, and I will probably use them on the buick . The best part he gave everything to me. I have a set of 15 by 5 inch rallys he has been looking at so I will probably give them to him just for grins. I't cool to have good friends with old car parts laying around. Here is a picture of a 26 buick roadster finished out as a hot rod. With a nail head buick engine..John

John....That's like winning the lottery. I have good friends but the old car parts around my neck of the woods are getting to be pretty scarce.

Sounds like a great friend!  You must have 95% of the parts you need.  Yeah let me know if you come across any 33 parts you don't use.  That black Roadster looks sweet!  Must get the blood flowing in that new knee of yours.

Thanks . I am gonna check that out. My pictures never were that large before so it's probably something I have done with my camera. If not I have program that I can use to resize them. Thanks Moose for the advise you gave also....John

Thanks Killbilly. I have been gathering parts for the roadster project. As usual after a large swap meet al kinds of parts hit the local craigs list with good pricing. I was able to pick up a set of brake and clutch pedals from an old race car with willwood master cylinders attached for a  hydraulic clutch and fluid brakes, prolly gonna use this on the buick and also a complete under the floor board 7 inch booster,  master cylinder, and swing arm assembly for future trading or sale. Gave $200.00 for all that. I also found a cherry set of I believe 32 ford steel roadster rear fenders that fit the buick fender well perfect for $200.00 . I talked to a guy last night that has a cherry 68 camaro saginaw 4 speed with a new hurst shifter he wants $400.00 and a pair of brand new old style torque thrust 15 by 7 inch wheels with the grey center spokes  and polished outer for $120.00 these are the wheels I am looking for the buick build. I am also looking at a muncie m 20 with a hurst shifter for $400.00 it has a bad syncro in third gear he thinks. I am about to run out of car funds soon and am gonna have to start building the damn thing. Don't know what I did, but please look at the pic's in the small size because they are really large now. I had to do it, before I spent the money on something stupid. I bought the adaptor kit from bendsten's to put a 4 speed in the buick, so that is out of the way and it will have to be a 4 speed hot rod. Now I am really low on the car fund.

"Now I am really low on the car fund."
But look on the bright side John, you have lots of parts that are going to make a really cool hot rod.  Sit back and look at what you got and get it started.  Your knee should be in great shape by the time you'll be banging gears in it!

We've all been there. As they say "Its only money" You'll forget all about it when those shiny new parts arrive. 8)

Oh yeah I can't wait for those parts to show up. Most likely I'll just put them away and concentrate on the body rebuilding. The whole lower portion of the buick is paper thin so I spent the afternoon with my plasma cutter and a tape measure making all the patch panels. I will probably start to install them after I get some 3/4 inch square tubing to make some of the bracing that will go with them. I did decide that the seating area was too large, it looked like a limo, and with a 120 inch wheelbase on this car I am gonna cut 6 inches out of the body and the frame to get a respectable 114 inch wheel base. It will still give my 6 foot frame plenty of room to stretch out my new knees, and look more like the black roadster pictured previously, which I believe is a standard model with a 114 inch wheel base from the factory. A little more work, but hey that's what we do.

Looks like you been putting some time and thought into this project.  6 inches out of the passenger compartment will look good.

Yeah the doors are 24 1/2 inches long, and the back half from the doors back is probably the same or more. It needed it because the proportions were all wrong. I could have put jump seats behind the regular seat. Not my style.

I agree that the new proportions are right on the money. Can't wait to see it come together.
