Not quite a bow tie, but cool none the less
« on: January 16, 2013, 05:55:15 PM »
I found this while checking out the local Colorado Craigs list. It's a 1926 buick roadster that originally came with a 6 cylinder engine, It has all the original fenders, hood, grille shell, frame, and most of the lighting. His asking price is $3,000.00 with a title. I wish I had the money to haggle with him. It would be a really cool build.

Wow that is really cool! That would make a great project.
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

Well the guy still has the buick, but he decided to keep it for now and took the add off . I did call him and he is open to sell it for his asking price.  I am not into open cars ,but MAN am I torn up over this car. I have a nice front and rear axle, nice new aluminum radiator, and a 401 nail head engine and trans from a 62 buick. I am prolly gonna get it, but I will hold off until next week and let my new knee heal a little bit longer. I am not one to ask for opinions , BUT what do you guys think of this deal.
Thanks...John

John,
I think that would make a cool hot rod.  $3000 is not a bad deal for such a rare car.  Looks like all the panels are in good shape and you'd have everything you need except the frame.  You'd have the only one at any cruise night you showed up to.

It has the original good condition frame, and original guages. I am not sure, but I think it has the roof bows also. I know it is a good deal, but I always try to get a better deal. I better not screw around and lose it....John

Look's like a great deal to me ,I wouldn't waste any time getting over to get it! Most of the hard to find pieces are there, doors ,windshield stantions, grill, hood, trunklid,TITLE, and the the body has been media blasted.
Will make an awsome and rare roadster  Joe Mac

Thanks Joe.
It will most likely be my next build, and yes the body panels and media blasting is a good start on this one. I will keep you all informed.
Thanks... John

I just heard back via email about the buick. He will not come off the original price, and I found out it has no rear fenders. Not a deal breaker buy no means. I have a friend that knows him and maybe I can haggle with him through him. I just like  bartoring as much as the build I guess. I am gonna probably get it no matter what the outcome of the deal making,  it would be a one of a kind build because of the rarity of the car.  I hope to post pictures of it from my shop in the near future.

(Done deal) I own it and I will finalize the deal and pick it up tomorrow morning.  I had to give him his asking price, but you guys are right about it being a rare find, and I am sure I will  have fun with the build.  I didn't want it to fall into the wrong hands namely not mine.   More to follow.
Thanks for helping me spend my money....John
