RH,
I checked out the link and that's a great story and cool pics.  I'm glad your wife Lisa is doing better and enjoying the hot rod with you.  I hope to have my 33 on the road this summer and hope my wife enjoys riding in it.  That's what it's all about!

You're so right - hope she really loves your ride!

I just finished installing both my panels with silicone and screws. Here's a photo from the inside of one completed. The goofy marks are my code telling me which size screw, which size washer and what angle it goes into the frame. So once I put a small bead of silicone along the top and bottom, I set the panel in place and quickly installed the correct screw in each spot. Went real smooth and should be real solid too.

That looks really great. In fact so great that everyone is going to ask why you filled in the back door. I love the car and the look.    John

You could even use some velcro to attach flexible upholstered panels to cover the voids?

Thats a good idea! But actually I already did the inside portion a while ago and drove around with the windows blocked off to see if I liked it. Made a couple panels to fit out of some left over wall paneling, and used spray adhesive to attach some black upholstery fabric. So another panel cut out of cardboard goes in place over the wood as a spacer, then the upholstery covered panels, and finally the original window trim ring holds everything in place.

Last night I applied some tung oil to the wood just for a little moisture protection. Once it's all dry I'll put the interior panels in and post a photo.

Here's a shot of the interior panels in place (sorry for the lousy lighting, and the back seat isn't in place) I have matching black material on my front kick panels, and am going to make new door panels replacing the light grey with the same black too. So now just a little silicone into the outside seams to seal them up and she's all done!  :)  Also contacted Paul Comeau today, am going to have him do the lettering - amazing work, he and his son did my flames.

I have a couple ideas, but Paul is amazing so will work with him to come up with a final design. It will read "Sailor Hardware" in some fashion....maybe something like this?

That is one "Kick Ass" Sedan Delivery!  Some time you'll have to post a video of it coming down the road.  I'd love to see that.

RH
Just read the entire post, glad to see your wife is doing better,  cruising without the one you love makes for a lonely trip. My wife and I go everywhere together in my 38 and that's what makes it fun. I really  like what you did ,how you came up with a simple design to change the looks but didn't hurt the integrity of the car. Great job.

RH,
Just wondering what size tires and rim size you were able to fit in the rear fenders.

Thanks for the nice comments guys!

Tom - they're 15x8 wheels and I'm currently on my third set of tires. (I keep finding bigger ones I can stuff in there  :)
These are BF Goodrich Long Trail TA Tour 265/75. Keep in mind that while the body is all steel, my fenders are fiberglass and 2" wider than stock. Hope that helps

A couple update shots - I took all three light grey rear window trim rings and screws and painted them satin black so they would blend in better. Also - you probably can't tell, but my side mirrors are a couple of the 4" Fatties - expensive, but absolutely amazing how much more you can see!
