 Bringing her home. (12-20-2009)

Had it in storage for a few months. I cleaned it up and painted it flat black cause I was giving it to my dad but he didn't want it.

Hey that's a good looking car. What are your plans for it?

Rattiac,
Looks like a real solid car.  Should be a sweet ride!  I guess you're glad your Dad didn't want it.  :)  Looking forward to the build.

My plans are to keep it as stock as safely possible, aside from the drivetrain but I wont be cutting the body in any way . Something told me this car was special or rare and shouldn't be messed with  I already have a engine/trans lined up for it till one day when I can afford to rebuild the original 6 and put a 5-speed behind it. Not even gonna lower it. Done that been there.
I also have a small teardrop trailer I plan on pulling behind it for long trips.

Update

I got some work done before we moved from our first home (RDA)
I aquired some 54 spindles sent em' to get machined (Somehow the rod-shop lost em) so I now have a pair of Speedway's  fordged spindles with
73 camaro disc's and some new leafsprings up front.
(update)
Had a machinist hog out the axle to get the spindles to adapt. But Ive read somewere that you can use a reamer from Harbor Freight and do it yourself.

I also found some 36 chevy truck rear fenders for $ 20 . They are a bit beat up but they'll work for now . I was told by the guy that 32 to 36 rear fenders are about the same. They do match the body lines well and I bought some tires that were on a 46 chevy (only 2000 miles on em')
7.60/15's paid $80

 Teardown pics. (3-23-2010)

Broken leafspring repaired with a army belt.( Who knows how long someone drove on that)

Heres the new springs and spindles. Just in time to move

I moved into another house but this time I had a garage and a shop in the back. It was awhile before I could get back to it but was able to get these.

Wheels
(3-24-2010)
I ended up getting these wheels at the local pik n pull . they wanted to charge me $ 5 for each wheel and $15.99 a tire. Thats $ 80.00 total . So I slashed the tires and walked away with 4 wheels for $23.00 .Take that pik n pull.
They are 1988 Caprice 15x7's . I took the wheels/tires down to a local (Wrench-it) center and mounted my own wheels for $ 32.50. cant beat that especially since a total of 8 wheels got dismounted. Used to be a tire-buster back in the day .

Love that Army belt to hold the suspension together :).  What type of shocks will you be installing?  I notice the old ones still in place.

Those old Pontiac's have great lines. I especially like the grill. The new front disks look like they should really get the job done.

Im gonna keep the original shocks. This car has what is called "Ride Control" and the shocks are adjustable with a pull/push knob inside the cab .
Here's a cool link about 32 Pontiacs. Mine is the 402 series.

parts (5-26-2010)

Went to the swapmeet/carshow the other day and scored some headlights for $30 (new still on box), an old rusty license plate and a taillight wich I thought was GM but was dodge so I sold it.

V.V. Front windshield
I was starting to wonder what this knob above the windshield was for.....

I  found out the car came with all the options and it has the VV (vision ventalation) windshield . as in the windshield rolls up a few inches from the bottom. I went to some Antique sites and was told Id never get it working and should leave it alone (something about pot metal) . So I removed the header board and seperated it , then soaked it in PB Blaster came back every few days gently taping it till it started to move.
I think its just the handle made of potmetal not the internal gears.
Works great. just need some glass now.

You'll be glad you got your windshield to work. I don't know if your rear window rolls down but the 32 Chevy coupe does and with both the front and back windows open its better than A/C :-*
