Well not car related...but pickup anyway. I just got back home, not something you see much these days.

My aunt died monday during open heart surgery in Wichita. The funeral home transported her up to north central Ks for funeral this morning. Then the burial was in SW Ks this afternoon. The funeral home wanted a grand to deliver....Not with this Redneck bunch!  ;D   She rode down in the back of a pickup truck. Stopped at the drive thru for a bite too eat. Well she liked to travel and had lots of pickups. :)

My Cuz said her mom was a lot easier than her dad had been. He died 6yrs ago in SW Texas. She pushed the right buttons to get permission to transport thru Texas, Kansas granted entry, but she had to bootleg him thru Oklahoma in her SUV.   ;D

Sorry for your loss.
Thumbs up on the transport.

Lately I've been avoiding the car cause it's so poorly lit in this corner of the shop. So I got fed up and picked up a 4footer LED light from harbor freight, it has good reviews and for $20 with coupon.
I gotta say not bad at all. Added much needed light here.
Well, back to work.

Sammons, I'm sorry for your loss but proud of how your family delt with it. I once hauled an old friend on my flatbed from the funeral home in Carson City to his favorite bar in Dayton, NV for his wake then, to the cemetery the next morning. In Silver City ,NV the locals do all the prep for burial right there in town. They build caskets and dig the graves. I've helped with some of those. So far no one has wanted to be cremated. That could be problematic.,

Thanks, guys. Most in attendance were asking if that was even legal. My aunt was the family comedian, so i'm sure she would have approved. ;D

Rattiac, I'm going to have to do the light thing myself. Had 2 of my flush mount 4',  4 bulb fixtures burn out ballists. Looking into a retro LED kit. With out them, it's just too dark to see good when the sun goes down in there.

with the led's  you don't need the ballast anymore, you just connect the wires togther. I redid my whole garage with daylight bulbs. they have different brightness bulbs.

Related to the LED shop lights, I bought 48" LED bulbs, removed the ballasts and wired them directly to 110volt.

- The LED bulbs are directional so your old style light fixtures might point them at a side angle..(no biggie they are still
   bright)

-  Since the LED's draw so little voltage (amps) I just used some shop extension cords to wire them.

-  The LED's are voltage directional  - power to hot side and neutral to the other.

-  NOTE:  Some 48" LED shop light bulbs are wired HOT on both prongs on one side and both neutral on the other end, which
means you must run a single wire to each end of the bulb.  BUT some 48" LED bulbs have a dead end on one
side and the POWER (L) and NEUTRAL (N) are both on the same end, these type are usually marked that way. (can't be
   mixed)

Make sure you get 110v LED bulb (They make a low DC voltage and ballast LED bulbs)

Sammons, sorry for the loss of your aunt.  I'm sure she was looking down smiling.

Sorry for your loss Sammons. Sounds like your Aunt was a real pistol.
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

I spent a few hours outside today removing the front axle and springs from a '29 Chevy frame a got several years ago. I'm moved it inside so I can remove the springs and some of the steering parts for the roadster build. I was only about 35 degrees out but not bad once I got used to it. (numb)  The finger I smashed is just now beginning to throb.  :o
I've been squirting the shackles and spring bolts with a 50/50 mix of ATF and paint thinner for a few months. Every one broke lose and all of the parts are reusable.  This is a frame that was in a fire that ruined the back half of the frame and everything else back there. The front is fine. Now I have to get the springs off and apart to clean them up.Then we can do some more on the roadster frame.
