What a guy, what a guy. My buddy Tom found and bought me a '78 Camaro LT out of Oklahoma, said he got it for $1000. Seller said no interest from anybody as a project, just guys offering less to gut and race car it. He dropped it off lastnight, been sitting for a very long time. Last Oklahoma inspection sticker on windshield 7of 2001, 121k on the clock. He was really worried i wouldn't be able to get them heavy doors open or closed and that i might not be able to get out of it. I treid it, luckily the doors aren't sagging. I fell in and holy cow i forgot how comfortable, (to me) those cars are.  Flipped the tilt wheel down, everything was in easy reach, felt like old times😁 i couldn't remember what year the went to all that garbage they did with the turn switch. Gm started that in '77 on a lot of models, but just seen the cruise button on the end. Reached up with my foot and hell ya! Dimmer switch on the floor where its suppose to be.

Car is like a virgin under the hood, everything is where it should be. Has rust issue right inside floor from window down , and a little on the lower front fenders. What Tom said was under side was great except floor pan. 350 4 barrel Q-jet, ps, pb, a/c, tilt/cruse, am/8-track, full gauges. Got to start gutting the inside and pull all the junk out of the trunk to see whats there.

Thats a fact. Dad always said the most winning racers are 1/2 crazy. Running on the edge of out of control and no real sense of danger.

I did a hundreds of practice laps and a few flat track races novice 250cc class. I found out I wasn't fast enough to ever win a race or crazy enough to get fast enough. Just didn't have the balls.  That is still my favorite kind of racing but anything that is all left turns in the dirt is good for me.

Yep, dirt track racing is my favorite.  Probably because i grew up watching it as a young'n. Asphalt racing just isn't as much fun to watch for me. I've never raced on a dirt track other than packing the track, a few hot laps and an occational trip out after the races to bomb around.

A couple months after i shattered my ankle from skydiving, i got to the pits early one night. Still in a cast, i helped my brother for a bit then went over to my uncle Jim's pit. He had two cars that year, a latemodel sportsman mid 70's Camaro and a hobby stock 70-72 Monte Carlo. Jim was pissed cause his hobby stock driver was a no show. He asked me if i'd like to drive it.... sure i said. He grabbed a helmet and told me to see if it fit good, yes it did. Showed me all the functions on the car and told me where it worked best on the track and it's tendencies. I got in and sinched up my belts, then he reached in and really yanked down on the belts crushing me into the seat. I fired it up..... and a hand reached in and popped my belt release... wth? I hear "Get your a$$ out of that car!, It was dad. Then he commenced to chewing on Jim's butt for letting me get in, with my cast on😄   
That's as close as i ever got to dirt racing.

Cool stuff. I think that is the most fun form of racing to do and to watch.

Brothers back got bad again, he"s been om the couch iceing it. Text me a pic of his first race car, hobby stock class. Said in text "remember when we did Le Mans?"  First thought that he super imposed the pic on that track. Then... i don't remember it being any where that straight. Then i coulda sworn it was a '68 Charger not a '69. He said he was playing with an A.I. program. Then he said it's cool but scary at the same time, and be a real cheater for people selling cars on line.

Brother was 16 when he started racing with the 383 '68 Charger. It was heavy but loved to run up above the lower groove. Give him a great position. Later when he was 18 he bought a prior year points champion ship '68 Camaro. He found out quick that car had to be ran low or it would just blow off the top side of the track😅
The old Dodge city track was 3/8s mile inside and shy of 1/2  on the outside. It was originaly a half mile horse track way back in the 1920-30s, then Rodeo grounds before auto racing.

A few years ago I invested in a bunch of Milwaukee 18v tools. Since we power our place with solar it made sense to me use our setup to run tools with it. I had tried it before with a mess of several brands of tools & batteries and was not happy. With everything on the same battery platform I like it. 16" chain saw, 6" Chain saw, big hedge trimmer, line cutter that has a tiller attachment and a blade cutter. Router, drill, driver, 3/8" & 1/2" impact wrenches, cutoff wheel, jig saw, circular saw, reciprocating saw, small shop vac, flush cut saw, sander, and probably some others I can't think of. I'm happy with them all but the chain saws & line trimmer/ tiller blew me away. The 1/2" impact will break a 1/2" bolt with no strain. The little driver is my got to for jobs that need to turn.

Worst part is 18v batteries are expensive and there are counterfeits out there on the internet. one and it was crap. I recently bought a 12v pruner that kicks ass and a 12v 8" hedge trimmer that is easy to use with one hand. The 12v batteries are better priced and these two tools are powerful.

A good thing is no starting, no tuning, no dying when you set it down, no gas mixing, no old fuel in carbs & cans, and there are quiet.  I do have a couple of gas saws & a line trimmer set aside just in case.

Lol, the way i bypass these darned safetys. I drill a small 1/8" hole between the safety button and body of saw, then screw a 5/8" in long ford dash trim screw in there till it pushes safety button in😁

I haven't been able to run my chainsaw for 3-4 yrs. Didn't have the strength in my hands to hold it let alone pull trigger. Other than my brother coming back last couple years to clear stuff for me, it was getting out of control.

Last month i picked up a harbour freight cheap Bauer hand held 5" bar 20v chainsaw. Little dude does real good once i overide the safety switch. My brother just sent me another yesterday that he bought his wife, said it kicked butt for a cheapy off amazon. It came with an 8" bar and a 6", and a very handy left hand grip.

I've cut down a group of 10 small trees, 2" to 4" and the last this morn that was 8-9" diameter. Very impressed with both saws. I'm getting one heck of a big pile built up. Waiting for city to come pick up, after all, that creek area is city property. I've been cutting trees and mowing it for 44yrs, they can't complain.
