1929 Hudson Pick Up.
« on: January 13, 2014, 02:14:29 AM »
I was asked for some before and after, pics of my Hudson, but its going to be, after and before pics :) Im allowed to do it backward, due to living in the Southern Hemisphere. Haha, we do things back to front down here. Please excuse the wrong sided steering, it was ok untill some fella named Ford decided to put it on the other side. They say even the toilets flush backward down here...

The rusty pics are how it looked when the builder found it, and the blue with grey scollop pics, are how it was, after a six year build by the original builder. I brought it from him, stripped it down, and spent five months, painting and polishing, untill it came out as the black n flamed version you see now.

Wow Jeff it's come a long way!  I like what you've done with it.  Can't be too heavy so it must go good with that six.

It goes very well Tom, the engine is stock for now, and runs nice. I have plans for triple carbs, headers, and swap out the awful multi colored plug leads for black ones. For now, its all legal, it runs well with a nice balanced chassis and running gear combo, so i drive it almost every day. Must get some windows in the doors, i live in a high rainfall area, but its cheap air con in the summer :D

I've been doing a lot of cosmetic stuff to the Hudson over the Winter. Brought a finned alloy rocker cover, that will go on when I get done polishing it. Have new finned coil cover, chrome oil filter cover, new leads, plugs points and condenser.
I've put a stained and varnished piece of plywood in my deck, and in the process of making a vinyl covered roof. Using thick plywood, that I've route red out slots for the ugly bars that are welded on the roof. Once its finished, I will cover with foam, then black vinyl.
Here's some pics.

I saw this Kiwi famous Jeep going to my neighbors, so I shot down to say hi to the owners (who are related to famous Kiwi/Canadian bushman/saw guy), and get some pics.
This Jeep was drag raced in the 70s, and onwards with supercharged Chev V8s.

Yikes!! That engine is almost as big as the Jeep! Very cool and, I'll bet, very fast.
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

A Rebel license plate? How far South is that?
