These days that is a great find. Not so many years ago they were everywhere.

I used to love walking through junk yards when I was a kid.
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

I went to a old junk yard back in the spring way out in the middle of no where, he had some really nice stuff a lot of 50,60,70 and newer.  He didn't advertise his yard, I asked asked buddy to ask one of his buddy who lived in the general area if he knew him. I was told to stay away from him, that he had a reputation of driving the roads in his wrecker and would find cars broke down along the road and would hook up and take them to his yard.  .

When I moved here in the early '70s there was an old wrecking yard along Highway 50 between  Carson City and Dayton. A couple of old guys lived there, one, the owner, was almost totally blind but he knew every car out there and what parts were still on it. At that time the highway was a two lane. His yard was out of view behind a tall fence. The area was growing fast and the road was made into a 4 lane higher on the hill. Now his yard became an eyesore to the new comers and they forced the county to pull his license and close the yard. The old man died in his trailer on site while fighting the new rules. The county contracted with another salvage yard owner famous for crushing really nice vintage cars, (he is still around). Nothing was sold ALL was crushed. There were at least 2 Model Ts and tons of 20s-30s 40s 50s cars and trucks. I had gotten lots of parts there for my '53 pickup and '40 International 2-3 ton flatbed. There is only one falling down building left I guess it is not offensive to the golf course crowd.  :(

There used to be a junkyard about 2 miles from my house growing up, we would go there on weekends, sometimes just to look around. In the early 80's it was sold and turned into a strip mall. I never knew what they did with the cars, but all were from the early 70's and later. There's still a yard I pass every time I go down the shore. I keep promising myself to stop in, but I never do.
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

A lot of the yards now won't let you walk thru anymore
