Milwaukee metal saw
« on: December 09, 2020, 01:31:09 PM »
Needed to cut a 340lb (3/4" thick) piece of steel in half.  Used my Milwaukee metal saw...piece of cake!  Nice clean cut that even a plama cutter couldn't make and a lot faster!

Nice cut.  How much are those blades?

I always try to find them on sale under $40....I think the saw itself turns at a slower rpm than a regular circular saw.

That was my next question.  I figured just like metal band saw it would have to be slower.

Used it to cut the 4X8 diamond plate on my car trailer deck...clean and precise cuts.

That is quite a cut. I have a metal chop saw from Northern Tool that makes very clean cuts on every thing I've tried except light weight tubing or sheet metal. I didn't trust it on the railroad rail. I finally got that done with a few abrasive blades on 2 Harbor Freight saws. Tool speed is the key. Is that a dedicated metal saw?

I have ruined a couple of bottom end table saws by using them to cut tile, concrete blocks and aluminum.

Here is the 18v cordless version. 200 rpm faster, only 2" depth, and no hp rating.

This one is closer to the corded one.

That's a nice saw and it looks like it did a good job, but Yikes, it's a little pricey. I guess you get what you pay for though. Ed, 3/4" steel? You building a tank?
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

Actually I'm making a portable target rack and backstop for two targets spaced 3' apart.  I'll post a picture when it's done...it will have provisions for me to move it with the forks on my tractor out back on the handgun range.

Every gong I have ever set up for 22s and handguns somehow ends up full of rifle holes. :)
