Source to have (2) discs cut DONE - DONE!!!!
« on: April 09, 2013, 03:56:21 PM »
I have a couple of sets of narrow 15" "uni-lug" wheels with 5.60X15 tires that I really like. What I don't like is the uni-lug holes.

Looking for a source that could cut me (2) aluminum disc's (1/8" thick?). The outside diameter would be 6.25 and the inner circle 3.125.  I could then drill out the (five) GM 4-3/4" lug nut holes.

The final product would then be used as both the lug nut washer and to cover up the unused 4-1/2" bolt pattern (make sense?). It would ressemble a wheel spacer.

Could be a market for them....

You would still need the uni-lug spacers under the plate, without the centering of the lug nuts.

All you would be doing is covering the spacers.

Not a good move.

Coley...only mentioned the spacer to describe what the outside cover would look like (no spacer would be involved).

I think Coley is thinking of the style of uni-lug wheels that use the eccentric inserts  like the wheels pictured below. Looks like you have the duel pattern style so your idea should do the trick to hide the extra holes.

OK That makes sense...what I want to do is the same thing that's done on my 3500HD trucks. The 19.5 wheels are (10) bolt.

When bolted on the rear you use (10) lugs, but upfront you only have (5) lugs..they use the same lug ring.. (see picture) I just want to make a set of lug rings with only (5) lug holes..that would cover the other pattern not being used.

I'm sure somebody could sell a bunch of them!

Yes, the eccentric hole wheels is what I consider the uni-lug style.

If yours have 10 holes, then a 5 hole plate would work, If  you have the nontapered lug bolts and washers.

Your wheel pictures didn't come up right away.

Most any good machine shop could make them, but the liability concern might prevent them form doing so.

Have you thought about those spider or bullet caps that speedway sells? You could knock out the bullets from them and just use the bolt on rings. That would cover the extra holes just fine.

These guys can probably make something up for you....Don't know how expensive they will be though.

Ordered those BMW 5x120 aluminum spacers (3mm thick) via eBay..opened the lug holes to a fat 11/16". Had to chuck them up in my lathe and opened the center holes to 3-3/16".  The wheels aren't cleaned yet....but the smaller bolt pattern is covered nicely!

Looks much better!
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

Ed  That really cleaned up the looks, I like it.

They look a lot better up close than the pictures shows. I have (2) different styles of those narrow 15" aluminum wheels..never liked the looks of wheels with 10 holes!  They sell chrome plugs....but I like this option a lot more now!

It was worth the $21.65 shipped:
