Asked this question on The HAMB but can't get a direct answer.

Making my own wiring harness and have relays for the (2) speed cooling fan, hi/low headlights and electric fuel pump. Really don't want to wire another relay if not needed.

Would like to run a fused power line through the brake pedal (normally closed) to the 700R4 lockup solenoid...the tranny locks up via internal hydraulic grounding switch. Applying the brakes opens the switch, cuts power to the solenoid, unlocking it.

Do you think I can power the trans solenoid with just a fused line (no relay)? Some sample diagrams indicate that I could..-but- some also show a relay.

It will work with no problem as long as the brake switch can handle the amperage requirements of the tcc solenoid. I think they only require about 1.5 amps so I don't think you'll have a problem.

Thanks Moose ..right to the point! Noticed that the aftermarket lockup kits use a "relay" only to unlock (disrupt power to the solenoid). They power (fused) the trans via relay pins 30 and 87b (normally closed) then use pins 85(+) & 86(-) to open the 30/87b connection.

I'm using all OEM parts, brake pedal, brake pedal switches, ECM and lockup 700R4.

I just turned the lockup on mine with a switch on the dash.

Get up some speed, let up on the throttle and turn it on.

That way when towing, it doesn't try to come on.

It will disengage itself at a slow speed.
