Here is a link to a guy that does some really outstanding patina paint jobs.  He'll take a mint looking truck and when he's finished, it looks rusty, sun beat and even has faux dents.

Ed, the guy is good at what he does.  But for the life of me I don't understand why amyone would like to have a  rusty POS looking vehicle.    How can you take pride in your ride with it looking like that?   Hell the newer Camaros drive me crazy (especialy in silver) because the contours in the body make the door paint look miss matched.

Why...is right ... to each his own....Guess  I like to see a good paint job that really shines..  Can't see spending a lot of hours  in doing body repair then  making  it look old, weathered and rusty...just my opinion

they do not do body repair, they just clear coat over the rust to keep it that way.

which the whole rat rod thing, I don't get it, back in 60's cops would run me up to the D O T inspection lanes with a car that looked like that.

They would rip your plates off if it wasn't up to snuff safety wise

Really      you work hard blocking and sanding, blocking two to three times maybe more  getting it straight then paint it to make it look old. If that's what you like why waste the effort and time

To each his own, beauty is in the eye of the beer holder, and it's their car and their choice. No one is required to look at it. The guy is obviously an artist and really good at his art. I don't think I'll be buying any.

 I don't mind real patina earned through time and use especially on survivor hot rods or race cars. Over the top far out paint jobs do nothing for me that includes faux anything. My challenge is keeping something nice once I get it there and patina happens it is not sought. My vehicles are drivers and haulers that sleep outside year round. Things break, wear out, scratches and dents occur and when it bothers me enough I fix it. Mechanically all is well all the time. Maybe if I ever get the roadster done I'll have something to baby and cover at night.
