Window Channels
« on: January 27, 2016, 01:27:58 PM »
OK, have yet to post pictures of my Pontiac up yet, but I need some help locating some replacement pieces.  Particularly I am working on the windows right now, just the doors and side windows in the sedan, an I have these old worn out window channels/Fuzz.  I have a found a few places online, thanks to the links here that sell some replacements, but I am mostly curious about what it actually is and what I should replace it with.

If you search the internet for window channel there is several suppliers out there, I'm going with the ones from Haggan,  they are flexible and can be formed into almost a 90 degrees in the corners.

the U channel felt stops the side windows from rattling. Also allows the windows to go up and down smoothly. It also is a semi seal against wind noise.

I think if you get a lynn steele rubber catalogue ( Denver NC ) or go online catalogue you will find a lot of the rubber replacement parts.  Its a Fisher built body just like a Chevrolet and all those small parts, door bumpers ect are available.. This would also include the windshield wind up rubber set.

I found some flexible window channels, from Yogi's, that look similar to what is coming out of the car.  I will give them a try.  For what the website was charging they will be an inexpensive test run.  Will post after I get them in and test them out.

I used Hagan Glass run channel  # 910-01930 from speedway motors.

It's flexible and worked great.
Never underestimate the power of a lubricant.

I never did contact Jan Bogert (sorry Jan), I used Hagan's U channel that I ordered from Yogi's. It worked GREAT!!
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn
