Rust Encapsulators

Anyone have a favorite brand of "rust converter" AKA encapsulator they use? Years ago I sprayed some on a severely surface rusted truck bed, then primed and painted it. Was neat to watch the rust turn into a hard shinny black finish. Saw the truck years later and the bed was still shinny....so I know the stuff works.
Just bought a used car trailer and would like to convert the rust on the bottom so I need to buy a gallon jug. Went on-line and there are now several manufacturers offering the stuff anywhere from $25 to $100 per gallon. I see some are listed as a converter and primer in one. Would be great to to simply spray the bottom with the stuff then put on an oil base finish like Rustoleum etc.
Anyone have recent experience with one of those products?

Ed there is a nice fellow on here from time to time his name is Don Beals he lives in Ashby Mass. He had an oil tank cut in half or the side cut out and layed it down hinged the cut out part for a lid and had it loaded with a mixture of food grade molasses and water and he would soak auto parts (eg) fenders in the stuff and then wash it off with a high pressure spray from what i saw this did a fantastic job.on rust and was not to harsh on the envirmonent. vette59jdwl

Ed there are several products on the market, Rust Bullet, POR15 and then Eastwood makes one also. I used the Rust Bullet on my frame applied two coats then one coat of black Rustoleum.

There used to be a product called Rust Mort that turned iron oxide into zinc oxide. Rust Dr. works well and ends up as a heavy black acrylic primer. Evapo Rust removes the rust and leaves bare metal. All work well for me.

I used Eastwood rust convertor and then aerosol frame paint on the frame and POR 15 on the engine block. POR-15's engine paint is hard ar nails.

Thanks guys..if I use POR-15 I'll need to take out a loan! Great stuff from Canada...but not practical for what I'm doing. Have been using Right Stuff - Formula 3000 and may just pick up a couple quarts.
