Which master cylinder are you using
« on: April 16, 2015, 06:48:47 PM »
Looking for a small bore aluminum master cylinder for the 37 Chevy...4 wheel disc brakes and standard (2 hole) 3-3/8" mount.

Would like to use the one from the 95 Camaro donor..but it's one of those angled fluid bowl units.

Thanks

Ed you asked me a few weeks back the height of my running board. I finally got my car back on the ground and I measured them and they are 7.5" at the rear fenders and 6.5"at the front fenders. Are you mounting your master cylinder on the firewall or under the floor? I'm using a standard GM  disk/drum on my 32 and mounting it on the firewall.

When I started the rear was about 14"..I think I'm down to about 9" without lowering blocks..plan on installing 2" lowering blocks..so we should be close.  I had a set of Mustang II front springs that already had 1.5 coils cut off..waiting for them to settle.

Using the stock 95 Camaro brake pedal so I needed to lower the double diaphragm booster, attached some pics.

Waiting for an offset clevis before final mounting....btw I have a 3/16" steel plate mounted on the firewall inside that mounts the power booster.

I have 2" lowering blocks in the rear and also have removed 1.5 coils off the front, I'm thinking about changing my coils out to 350 lb. rated as my car weighs 787 lbs. on each of the front wheels. total weight is 3144

USE THE CORVETTE 1 OR 1 1/8 "  BORE MASTER CYLINDER, THE ONE FOR POWER BRAKES.  ALSO USE THE CORVETTE PROPORTIONING VALVE DISC/DISC WITH 3/16" BRAKE LINES.

I am running this on my 35 coupe with dual diaphram chamber booster.   Once I added the vacuum pump from SSBC , because I had less than 14" of vacuum due to camshaft at idle.  Power brakes requires 18---22" of vacuum to operate at peak .  You would not believe the difference it made from scared to fully confident due to the increase in vacuum, you can feel it with your foot.
