34 chevy glove box door
« on: January 26, 2015, 10:16:28 AM »
Can anyone send me a photo or describe the hinge set  on the glove box door to the dash ? I figure it has a round tube hinge  on bottom of the dash to accept the round stock on the door...got to fab something to attach it to the dash bottom to accept the rods on the glove box door..or possibliy some one  has a set of bottom hinge pieces...Thanks

here is what you need, these are home made by ???  were on dash when I bought it.

The hook part needs to be much tighter over the steel round rod in order to keep it in place and not ruin your paint as you open and close it.

I have had to make the dash panel longer by 1" per end as a roadster is 2" wider across the dash.  That's weird.

Luckily I had it out at top of stairs waiting to go out to garage to have a couple of in-dash tweeter holes made with my Hole saw.  Will fit flat on the dash.

The stock 1934 master series dash with glove box,  fits all 33--35 Chevrolets closed cars.

I found the homemade clips on the back are not right and will have to be made to fit tighter so nothing rubs when opening and closing.

That is wierd, I would have thought same as closed car. Is the cowl/firewall the same width on a roadster?  I'm learning never presume anything on these old Chevy's!  ;)

The roadster and touring bodies were not made by FISHER and have a lot of differences to them.   They were supplied by an outside supplier and delivered to the assembly line ready to paint.  I believe that supplier is HERCULES as they were the supplier of the woodie body you could special order. I was shocked when I went to fit the stock 34 master dash into my roadster and found the 2" diff on the width .

Also the cowl lights use a different angle to the base mount , as the  angle of the side of the cowl is different.  The rumble seat lid is much diff size than the fisher bodys.  The floor pans are also different.  2 years ago I knew nothing about this when I bought the car. I just assumed a 35 coupe and a 35 roadster were the same car, LITTTLE DID I KNOW.
