Rattiac, I'm sorry about your dad's passing. As these things go I think this was a good as it can be. You know what you did was ALL you could do for him. Not to get religious but I believe someone on the other side was holding his other hand. Nuff said.
We moved to California from Texas when I was 14 (turned 14 on the trip). My dad & I hauled the family treasures in a big U-Haul behind a '52 Dodge pickup that was overloaded. On of my best memories. Think "Okies). Dad made that Dust Bowl trip too. We picked up his uncle Tom and the 3 of us (all Toms) worked a gold claim on the Feather River that summer. When I was 15 my folks divorced after 21 years. When I was 19 after a rough time Dad moved back to Texas where he died when I was 21. I was just beginning to realize how much he knew and how little I did. We had a lot of unfinished business. Of all that I have known who have died he is the only one I feel I have had some kind of contact (?) with. If there is a Heaven & I get to go he is the first I will seek out and start with apologies.
