What truck is this?
«

I bought this cab a couple years ago for 100€, which is about $100 from a junk yard sale, The
owner, a friend of mine had recently passed. Nobody knew what it is, so I thought I'd ask if
any one here would happen to know.
It may very well be a russian truck cab, I really have no idea.
Along with this cab I bought a 250 Chevy inline for 50€ I might build a rat rod for my next project.
I also have a 350 Olds engine and TH-350 transmission in my stash, so who knows...

Those slanted windshield posts and rounded shape top and rear, i'd guess 1940s Studebaker. But, Russian trucks kinda had the same thing going.

Of it is US I'd go along with Simmons, Studebaker. It is not Ford, Chevrolet, International, or Dodge/Plymouth. Almost sure of that. I'd bet on mid to late '30s- early'40s Studebaker possibly one of the late special delivery coupes.

I did try to search for pics of Studebakers, but they seem to have a two part windshield
most of them. Gotta do some more Googeling, I guess

'37-39 Studebaker Coupe Express is very close. I haven't yet found one with a cowl vent but the basic lines are very close & the dash is spot on. Since the windshield cranks out the split would be in the in the frame. Can't see the molding lines on door well. Some links.

Forgot about Hundsons, but they always looked like an Austrailian Ute or homemade from a cut off sedan. Their rear roof has a sharp bend and the upper rear of the door is more of a 90° sedan door.
Still looks more Studebaker to me, just can't dial in the exact year or model. Lots of little changes from late 30s thru 40s on those.

Being snowbound I've had time to search all US brands I can think of as well a Volvo, Russian, British/English, French, Italian, European and the Studebaker Coupe express comes the closest except for the rear window. Could they have done them differently in Europe? Did Studebaker make cars there or only export. I saw a lot of obvious near copies of GM, Ford, & International. I saw a lot of really cool trucks that I never knew existed of all sizes and shapes.
More pictures showing a full side view, bottom of doors & rockers if any. I think the hood hinge or spring mount may help identify it. Did you get or see any other parts when you bought it? Are there any tags to ID numbers any where? Firewall, door jamb?

Man....I'm about to say "Uncle" on this one. Getting cross-eyed and a headache looking at truck cabs. Packard, Hudson, Diamond Reo, Reo Speedwagon, White. Got confusing on German and Russian.
Read up some on Studebaker sites, i got more confused. All i could find for overseas was that Austrailia just assembled Studebaker with RH drive down there, i think😁
Spotted a lot, i mean a lot of different Stude truck dashes and several (3?) different back glasses. Then i couldn't remember which ones went where🙃

Thank you all for the help, for looking and trying!
As I live a few hundred miles from the Russian border, there's a good chance that the cab is Russian.
It looks odd with its chunky "forehead" line. Most American truck cabs looks sleaker. To me, the single
windshield is kinda ugly, I might make it a two part windshield just because I think it would look
better. It would help that rof line too. IF I ever get energy to make something from it. Also, I measured
the seating position in my Caprice, and decided this cab needs to be lengthened about 12" to make for
a decent seating position. 6" in the cowl and 6" lengthened doors, maybe.
I'll likely aqcuire a '74 Pontiac LeMans frame when the snow melts, so that might be the title used
for the build. And it's going to be a rat rod style fast build. So in other words, the make of the cab
is not critical knowledge, but it would be nice to know, of course.
Sorry, can't really get any more decent pics of the cab for the moment being as it's surrounded by
parts and junk from my current project. When I build a car, I tend to save everything until I am positive that
I don't need the old stuff.

I'm still poking around. I didn't see anything Russian but it may have been a secret cold war production.
It is not Diamond -T. When you get the chance to take more pictures it may help.
