Next I tack welded the tubing running up along the rumble seat to the pieces I rolled and attached them to the door latch post. Then I tacked in the piece that goes across the center.  This will all be finish welded later.

Once I had everything tacked in place I removed the body panels and finish the welding.  The first pics are of the "skeleton" being welded and the others are of the final structure on the chassis.

Thanks Billy.  Never did keep track of how much tubing but it's quite a bit.

How did you determine what size tubing to use? Did you size it closely to the original piece or did you just make what you had fit?

All the square tubing is 1" X 1".  The other parts were sized close to the original wood.  Most of the pieces were test fit and then I'd trim or adjust to fit.  Took quit a bit of time and patience but should be a good foundation.

Dang Tom. That's some nice work. I really like the structure coming up from the sub frame to support the body. I will have to follow your lead for my buick to make it strong and not wobble.

Tom  Thank you very very much for all the pictures that you have posted. What i am attempting to do is build myself a three D copier using a router and copy the pices that i have accumulated  that an a multi layered plywood sub frame like you first built. You see I am sort of restoring this car but adding hydraulic brakes all four corners and probably a 230 or 250 6 cylinder engine with a 5 speed stick.I did think about a 700R-4  i have not rulled this out  yet.I will retain the front end for now and change the rear end to a Dodge D-50 1/4 ton truck rear end 6 bolt.will also change everything over to 12 volot. Was thinking of using a 65 gto dash but not sure if that would be a little over the top.I would like to see more build pictures if posible and what did you use for a seat  thanks  vette59jdwl   lave@cogeco.ca
