Got a pm on the H.A.M.B. and stuck my head in over here to see whats going on.  I'm Primo and I currently reside in the mountains of Colorado.  I drug home a 1927 Chevy the other day from up near Vail, I think I did ok for $170 bucks.  The past few years I have been focused on bikes but am extremely excited to get back into cars.  For the last week I've been calling in every favor I can to get this car on the road.  So far I have the frame, front suspension and engine/trans lined up.

Welcome to the site.  Lots of good guys and info here if you need help with that old Chevy.  Wow $170, I think you did great!  Good luck on the build and it'll be great to see another old Chevy back on the road.

Plans, plans, plans... Something about of mice and men...  Anyway current plans are a relatively low buck but solid basic little hot rod.  I'm expecting my first in April so funds are going to be tight.  Nothing but the sweat of my brow and the fruits of my trades on this one. 

So a few years ago when I was working for a NASCAR team in North Carolina I hit up a little shindig they like to call the Heavy Rebel Weekender and fell in love with this Ford Sport Coupe:




I really shoulda taken more pictures, oh well, but that's what I'm aiming for. Fast forward a few years and several states over and I find myself in CO with an old Chevy body.  Headed over to get it I had pretty much made up my mind so I started formulating the master plan.  First step was to call up a former coworker and chassis fab expert from my former  race team that conveniently has a shop in Denver. He's been interested in a pair of XS650 choppers I had been tinkering on for a while and I was interested in a 32 style frame made to fit my not so shiny not so new body.  Long story short the first deal was struck.

Next step was to call up a friend  back in NC to see if the model-A-plus-disc-brakes front end I traded him before I struck west was still around.  A phone call later and they were mine again for the price of shipping.  I have alot of sentimental investment in this front axle, namely two broken ribs from a press mishap that I feel lucky to have been able to walk away from...



At this point I'm really starting to feel things might work out.  For motivation I've got a local buddy with a 305/turbo 350 he'll let go for 100 to get me started.  Got some hooks in the water about a rear end, and am planning my attack on a body frame.

So I posted on the H.A.M.B. I needed a few measurements and I was hoping of measuring a local coupe.  Unfortunately the local one turned out to be a 27 Dodge not Chevy:



Nope not gonna work...

So if anyone can pull some measurements at the bottom of the body for the following areas it would help me get my chassis and body frame started.

Welcome to this site Primo. I saw your thread on the HAMB. I don't have any dimensions of the early chevys and most of the mid to late 20s I have built have been sedans, and i have flew by the seat of my pants getting them squared up. They worked out pretty well just squaring up the doors and then building the sill plates to match the door opening widths. Using the sill plates if done carefully will also help to get the body roll or shape from front to back. I hope this helps with your coupe. I do like your direction with this car.

Thanks for all the help guys I'll take whatever numbers I can find.

Because it's so cold outside I did a quick theory photochop using the golden ratio for dimensions of the windows.  Maybe tomorrow I'll bust out my sawzall and welder. Waiting on the chassis is killing me, I want to get this body framed up.  Oh well.

Here are some # from my 28 3window. Cowl width at bottom- 31 1/4",at belt line - 32 3/4".Width of body at bottom edge of deck lid - 47". Front edge of cowl to widest point on body - 60".Rear of body to widest point of body - 33" +/- 1".Diagonal measurement of door opening - 51 1/2". The widest point of the body is about 8 -10 " behind the door opening. The widest point of the body I didnt get,will post it tomorrow.
