does the Pontiac use the same rear fenders as a Chevrolet ????????

mike

Rattiac

Yes. The only difference is the front fenders has a scallop in the front.

Did the old shocks dampen in both directions? The ones I have from a '49 Chevy pickup only dampen the rebound.

Rattiac

Yeah, they only dampened on rebound.  :o

Mr. Brown showed up with the fenders today. 😁
This had me thinking about the welting. Where Does the welting go ?
I know it goes between the fender/body but does it also go along the running boards and between the fenders/running boards ???
My stuff is all gone, so I have no idea.

Most guys like us to sew up welting for them, they hate the rubber/plastic stuff.

TFoch

On my 33 it only went between the fender and the body.  None for the running boards.
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

EDNY

Would be neat if they made welting with LED's inside!

1934 master and 1934-1935 standard used a special BULBUS round hollow welting between the running board and the body.  GM called it anti squeak, STEELE rubber reproduces it.  On 34-35 its needed to fill a 1/2" gap.  This should also apply to 33 master and 33 standard series

Here's the last look at the old fenders. They were actually for a (im told) 35 Chevy truck and are beat to piss with dents, cracks and ect.
At the time it was all I could find that was affordable. Think I paid $35.

FATnLOW

How is the quality of the Speedway fenders.....you can probably get some money back on those steel fenders if someone is in need of  steel fenders and can't find a set...

Rattiac

They look pretty damn good. A lot better than what I had  8) . Hopefully I'll be installing them this week.
I've been in charge at work the last few days, so by the time I get home im tired of working on cars.
Something I thought I'd never say.

sixball

It will be fun to see how is comes out. It 's crazy how well the pickup fenders fit. The new ones should be easy.

Boy, I could really slam this thing down to the weeds if I wanted to. :o

Nah, done that been there.  8)

Rattiac

Started mocking it up to mark the holes.
Seem to be having a issue at the rear of the fender
These bolt holes dont line up with the rear. I dont have any 32 chevs to look at locally to see if these holes are used or not.

Got the running board holes drilled and clamped the rear for now.

sixball

How ever you get it done it's going to be nice and clean up the looks of the whole car.

I found a pic that shows the rear bolt holes.
