I just checked, 800 miles driven so far. Except for a tiny coolant leak
where the cooling fan sensor is welded and a bit excessive oil consumption,
it?s been driving and running just about perfect. With one exception.
A harsh vibration under accelleration. And not even hard accelleration.
always there, always stripping away the good feeling you get when you
get to drive your brand newly done project car.
Yesterday i fixed it!
I was going to adjust the rear axle backlash (a pain to do on these 10-bolt
axles). I wasn?t exactly enthusiastic, and procrastinated by checking the
prop shaft alignment, or ratger the pinion angle.
I noticed that the pinion was one degree high, which, of course isn?t ideal,
A degree low would be better. So, just to avoid the shimming of the axle, I
unbolted the lower link bars and screwed out the ends one and a half turn.
This amounted to a 3 degree change.
By the one change at a time rule, I lowered the Buick to the floor and went
driving. The vibrations were 90% gone!

This time procrastination really worked in my favor, the result is a car that
I can finally enjoy fully to drive!

We attended Wheels Nationals North in Sweden this last weekend. A big
car meet by local standards. I'd guess 1,500 cars or thereabout.
We went by ferry and  on top of a few hours on the ferry, it's about a 30
mile drive, so very close to home.

I finally got my coveted black old style five digit licence plates
that cars in Finland had prior to 1972.
These plates have been obsolete for a few years now, but a very
Helpful lady at the local DMV found an unused pair of plates in
a small town and had them sent here!
I was so happy that I wrote a little note and put a tiny symbolic
gift in the envelope.

Looks good on there, you got lucky! Was it a never used tag?
All ours get destroyed on left overs for the year. Here in Kansas anyway, your only allowed to use a year of manufature tag. Then you have to take it to court house for approval of condition as they all are used. Your not allowed to refinish either🙄

Yes, this is a never used tag. As a general rule, we never get used tags.
As this is an imported car, my Buick Marquette came to Finland from America
 in 2008, it obviously didn't have a tag before. On previously registered cars,
you may get the old tags back.

Six digits. Also the new plates since about the year 2000 have a blue
extension that says FI and EU. I cut that off, it's just too ugly on an
old car. (criminal behaviour)
And in the second pic the
Essex, which had its original tag on new plates, since it had been sold
new in Finland. Same style, but I painted the outer border black to make
for an older look, that border line came in in the fifties, I think.
Also not allowed, but luckily mischief no one cares much about.
