Looking good! Just a thought but would it work to narrow the rear fender at the bottom to meet the running board instead of making the running board wider?

That might be a solution,
sixball
, thank you for the idea. I had, for the longest time, though that
the width would be about the same front and rear at the fenders, but I kinda forgot that I changed to
much wider rear wheels during the build. The first steelies I had were widened to 10" and modified
to zero offset. The 11" slotmags have about 4" backspacing, so the difference is noticeable.
After a few days of right out procrastination I started working on the rear fenders again. I widened them some

" in the back to get the wheel centered in the fender, so now a filler is needed
between the fender and the body. Again just because I changed to diffeent wheels.
I worked on this filler piece tonight, and tried to test the look in Photoshop.
It might look decent if I can get some kind of a round transition to the fender done.

Lol, a piece here and there and then it's done😁 Most people have no idea what it takes to build a car, it's a lot of little things. It's looking good Essex.

Thank you all.
Yes,
sammons
, I think not many who haven?t built a hot rod can
understand how much time goes into every little part and detail.
Here?s how the fender filler turned out in reality, the pic in the last post was
a photoshop mock up to see how it might look. I think it?ll look okay when
everything is painted.
Tonight I ground off the rust on the inside and the paint off the outside of
the RH fender. Tedious work, but I?m about half way done with the rust
grinding, just the front fenders to go.
Sorry, pics are sideways
I still want to make the rear of the fenders tuck in a smidge tighter to the wheel, so the rear fenders are far from done.

Thank you
sixball
and
TFoch
.
The shape of the rear fenders is not really to my liking, so I
started cutting.
Pics tell it all. Fenders are too long and need to be tighter.
I started doing pie cuts every one and a half inches, and got it to
look a bit better.
Now the edge is not a smooth curve.
I cut a narrow curved part out of sheet metal to mimick a fender
edge and fastened wit a couple sheet metal screws.

I just got the new fender edges bead rolled. This is pretty exciting work,
first time for everything.
I really hope this will work out decent. I rolled both the outside edges,
and the inside ones, the ones that look shorter in the pic.
Of course most of these pieces will be cut away, the bulk of the material
is there just to provide rigidity so they wouldn?t get very distorted while
beadrolling and making the new edge.
Originally the edge is made by rolling the sheet metal around a steel wire,
But since the resulting original round edge is about 1/4? thick, I?ll just weld
a 1/4? thick wire to the new fender edge. Hope it works.

Looks good Essex! I must not have seen that in earlier picks. It sure had a kick out. Sure looks good now!
Nice job on bending up the edge lip. Those can be tough.

I'm taking a break from this project, doing summer things, but just had to try
to make the rolled edge on one of the four pieces in my last post.
The 1/4" bar I'm using is surprisingly stiff, but I got it persuaded into submission
for long enough to weld it in.
The edge seen from the inside in the bottom center.
It looks pretty much the same as the original, which was a thinner steel wire that
the edge was rolled around.

After completing a ton och chores and service work on the yard and all, I took the time
to work some on the rear fenders.
The1/4" bar welded to the new driver's side fender edge piece.
The old fender edge cut away to ease replacement. The back end of the fender is fixed
to the front of the fender and to the floor.
The pie cut fender for reference, or "before" shot.
The new edge tacked into place.
The curve of the fender edge or lip looks fairly smooth and consistent now.
A lot of welding, grinding and hammering to do, but so far it looks promising.
