Put a new front bumper on dad's jeep for some deer protection
ARB , Australian Roo bumper.  Roo short for kangaroo. 😉
Heavy,  the neighbor and I got it mounted. 
Went for some thin LED light bar's,  amber and white .
Wiring is easy.  Switches already there are pigtails near the battery to wire up light's.
Also bought a slightly used Warn 8,000 winch with cover.
Had some 3/4" spacers put on the front springs for the extra weight. Can't wait to go to Moab again.
Took my cousins out for a trail.  Hers is the blue jeep.  She's getting my old plastic bumper for a upgrade to hers.

summer, a six cylinder, driver rowing through the

If you have a chance,  go rent one from 2019 and up . Mine is the 2.0turbo with a 8-speed auto. This thing is fast and sips fuel.
I know I just swapped in a 200-4r in the 32 but now I want the 8-speed.  According to specs parasitic loss is minimal now and can be adapted to carb vehicles.

I think i got the bug.
My trade school teacher (he?s maybe 7 years older than me)
sent me a pic of a beetle he bought yesterday. So I
said I?ll but his old one. We settled the price and as soon as
I?ve paid it, I?m the owner of my first beetle.
I?ve owned two seventies VW buses and a 1980 Passat diesel,
but this is the first bug. I need one lika a hole in the pocket?

Reminds me of when I was stationed in Germany in the early 70's, bought a 1953 VW bug. The brakes were cable operated ...no hydraulics.  One day all forward gears went out, only worked in reverse...drove it about 20 miles backwards to get home.  Picked up a 1964 with blown engine and put the engine from the 1953 in it.  Fun cars.

Can't say i ever really drove one, just costmers in and out of the shop. My girlfriend drove an orange one in highschool. I took a bobbed Baha bug in trade for a car i sold. Had a Porche dual carb and 5-speed tans, headers etc. The guy said it needed the valves ran. I didn't know anything about them and didn"t have anything in it, sat for several months. Sold my 73 GT Ranchero and it had a hitch, bug had a tow bar. I told the guy that he had to take the bug with him. 😁

I don?t think I?ve ever driven? yes I actually have driven a beetle once
when I was 18. I?ve been along a lot, one of my best frieds had several
Beetles and we were out driving every day around town. The technique
to drift a beetle around corners in winter was very different from how
I drove, my cars being  rwd Toyotas and Ford Taunuses and Cortinas.

I have some customisation ideas, but I don?t know when I?ll have time
for it. A new home made dual side ways exhaust and something heavy
 in the front trunk to lower it will probably simuffice.
My buddy always had a couple big dead car batteries to lower his.
So funny.

Funny stories about your Beetles.
They are simple cars, nice to work with, as long as they?re not awfully
rusty. And they don?t realize when they should quit, they just run till they
fall apart

A buddy and i, back in highschool went to look at a '68-69 Meyers Manx dune buggy of his neighbors son out in a barn on their old farmsted. It was green w/gold metalic, all chromed out, dual carbs, headers etc. Very cool but he wasn't sure he would sell it. Had it all mouse proofed, tin cans wired over header outtlets, carb.  I looked around that horse stall and asked him how he got it in there. He said a lot of thefts out there, so he tore down the outside wall drove it in and put the wall back up. 😁  Don't know when he got it out, or where it went, but the whole barn was tore down about 20yrs ago.

Lol, had to go back to this thread to see what i did on window switch 7yrs ago.

Caught up with yard work so time for pickup repair and maintenace work.  My battery side terminals were corroded and neg post bolt head stripped. Went out to Tom's and had him use visegrips to remove, my grip wasn't strong enough. Got that done, next it was surging/hunting at idle down to 300-400 rpm then dying. Cleaned throttle body and mass airfow sensor. They were pretty dirty, you could really see the black carbon build up inside throttle body.

My 03 Silverado has the 5.3, l460e trans. Has the K&N cold air kit. When i got it a friend has the same pickup as mine with tow package like mine. He checked it out when brother give it to me. He said get rid of that as the oil on the k&n can foul the MAF sensor and take out the transmission. Happened to him, tranny guy said it controls line pressure and shift points causing clutch pack burn up? So he put stock box back on. He said tranny guy said just clean k&n and not add the oil, just service frequent. So thats what i do. I sprayed the k&n cleaner, then rinse off, blow dry and let sit outside and get good and dry.  Refired truck ran for 30mins, then let sit and cycled thru 2 more starts. No more surg/hunting and idles at 7oo-750 rpm with a/c on.

Next was the power window master switch. Intermitant working on drivers window/lock. Took apart and cleaned everything reall good, lots of black carbon from the rubber silicon carbon buttons, and on circuit board contacts. Last time i did this i just posted a tv remote, basicly the same. This time i took pics. Replacements then were $170 dorman and $280 acdeco. Now they are just $40 to $70 on amazon depending on quality. Found a NOS motorolla like mine for $118 on ebay. Oh well, $70 is what i saved anyway. Works great again.

Screw drivers are pointing to the main contacs that need alcohol and q-tip for final clean after regular cleaning with electronic tuner cleaner. Dang thing was really dirty.

Do tractors count? Saturday I broke the steering box sector shaft on my old Kubota. Odd Ball model (L2050DT) and parts are getting hard to find. It took until this afternoon working where it broke, about 50 yards from the shop, to get the broken shaft out. Hot here! Yesterday I built a tent over it with an old trampoline cover.

It broke about 2 years ago and my son welded it back together while I searched for a new one. He patched it back together and it lasted 2 years of hard use. I put a new shaft aside. This time it ate a bearing and a seal. I was just able to order them on line. Trying to do this without tearing the whole tractor apart like the book shows. Didn't find much on line that helped. Pretty tight spaces for an old guy.

I was hauling a bucket load of my best clay to try and seal a leak in the sound I've been trying to fill. It seem right now to have sealed its self after I got in a walked around searching for the leak. Thousands of tadpoles and young toads I think. There are also some frogs. Theist showed up when the water did. Funny thing in the high desert.
