Dang Essex, your on a roll. Looks good!

Note to self 😁   When i was starting my coupe, the four 34-35s i had bits and pieces from, none had fenders or running boards so it wasn't an option for me. With a coupe... they look fine with out them. Sedans i really prefer fenders. You can spend as much or more time ironing out the dents etc on them than the whole rest of the car.

Keep a roll'n on, just don't get over worked and burnt out. Your getting close👍

He is almost finished with the interior for now. Ran into a hickup on the drivers arm rest. The inner plastic main screw holes were broke up, had a lag screws and washers, holding it up and at an old angle. Ended up using kitty hair and epoxy to repair. Hes waiting for that to cure good before installing.
I think the black carpet looks ok with all the red inside. He can live with it untill/if he changes his mind. The seats sure are plumper. I asked him if it was more comfy to sit in now. He said way better but.....   his legs were too close to steering wheel and that the steering wheel was even closer to his chest now.

He said,  "And Dad drove this to Minnesota before he died?"  I said ya thats what i thought😁  would be a bit cramped for that 1,600-1,700 mile trip.

Arm rest pics may not come out very good due to my crappy phone transfer.

Whew! Almost midnight. I spent the whole day in the garage
and got the right hand side rear fender almost entirely done.
Also the front fender is good under way, so with any luck I'll
have two fenders done by the end of the weekend.
Note to self: No fenders on my next build!

The carpet came in. He got it in, then had to put car on lift to remove drive shaft to install new seatbelts. Then got the seat frames back in.

Got started on cushions, said he didn't recomend trying to stretch 45yr old covers back on new foam. A real struggle, had to stop for the day. His wrists were smoked, he's got carpel tunnel going on in them.  I know how that goes🙄

I've had new aluminium inserts for door and kick panels for 25 plus years and never put them on. He's putting them in now. Got the kick panels done.

Hehe, sammons,
I don?t exactly enjoy the work, but it?s very rewarding.
It?s nice when the results are decent, I guess at least I
hate it less than the average guy.

Sounds like you've got a plan. Looking like a good start.

My buddy with my 35 coupe sent me a similar pic of the drivers door with wet black primer on it to show me he was getting it close to start blocking.

Thats my fav part of body work, (i'm weird). Getting the contures/flats smooth and really enjoy the blocking. I could block prime till the cows come home and be a happy camper😁

A buddy and i, back in highschool went to look at a '68-69 Meyers Manx dune buggy of his neighbors son out in a barn on their old farmsted. It was green w/gold metalic, all chromed out, dual carbs, headers etc. Very cool but he wasn't sure he would sell it. Had it all mouse proofed, tin cans wired over header outtlets, carb.  I looked around that horse stall and asked him how he got it in there. He said a lot of thefts out there, so he tore down the outside wall drove it in and put the wall back up. 😁  Don't know when he got it out, or where it went, but the whole barn was tore down about 20yrs ago.

I don?t think I?ve ever driven? yes I actually have driven a beetle once
when I was 18. I?ve been along a lot, one of my best frieds had several
Beetles and we were out driving every day around town. The technique
to drift a beetle around corners in winter was very different from how
I drove, my cars being  rwd Toyotas and Ford Taunuses and Cortinas.

I have some customisation ideas, but I don?t know when I?ll have time
for it. A new home made dual side ways exhaust and something heavy
in the front trunk to lower it will probably simuffice.
My buddy always had a couple big dead car batteries to lower his.
So funny.

Funny stories about your Beetles.
They are simple cars, nice to work with, as long as they?re not awfully
rusty. And they don?t realize when they should quit, they just run till they
fall apart

I actually have been pretty busy lately, full steam ahead, spring
is coming fast. I aim to have the Buick driveable May 1st. But it
will be tight.
Since sprayong on the epoxy I?ve been applying filler and sanding
it back off numerous times, feels like more times than ?numerous?.
The fenders are very bad from a ton of welding.
I decided to give up for now, I don?t think I an able to improve
much more on the insides of the front fenders. They?ll be bolted
to the car for easier sanding when I?m done with the insides.

I sprayed on some red primer to get a look at the shapes for as
long as it stayed glossy. A thick coat of epoxy and then fine
sanding will probably have to do. I?ve done my share of filler and
sanding work, even worked at a bodyshop for a year, but this is the
most challenging work I?ve done so far.

Still waiting on carpet but got the old stuff out. It looked worse out of the car. Got the floor cleaned up and heat mat down. No more summer heat soak to cook feet 😁
