Title: New acquisition
Post by: sammons on March 28, 2014, 10:52:51 PM
Got her home. My Uncle called me up last month and asked me if I would like to have his old shop sign, I said hell ya. He retired and sold his shop some years back due to health issues.  I never thought what happened to the sign. He told me he would have a freind of his get it out of storage and give me a call. I got a call! He had some guys load it for me, then asked me what I was going to do with it. Told him I was going to make some brackets and  hang it in my garage ay home and  get it lit back up. (Also need to the same with my shop sign) He was really happy about that, and me as well.

Crappy pic, but the red '57 in the middle was mine when I was 12, my Uncles years before, and my dads years after me.   (Pics silver/Uncles, red Dads, Black mine.)

Just makes me sad on the chevys, dad sold his ( my old one) just before he died, I had to sell my baby the black one when interest rates jumped on my house back in '06, and my Uncle just sold his silver one 3 months ago.

It's not very often a fellow could see three '57's in the same family. That's some pretty cool family history you have Sammons. The family sign  now in your shop is awesome . Would love to have something like that in my own shop.

Bill it just dawned on me after reading your post, hell I owned all three of them at one time or another. The red  one is really where the family history is, and it has some hisory indeed. The silver one I built after my black one was built. I had collected up 3 or 4 to build mine and the silver one was built out of what was left. Sold it to my uncle for $2500 and later straightend up the dings and painted for $1200. Forgot all about that.

Edit: just remembered I bought it from him (silver one) a few years earlier for $800 as part of my collecton to sart all that.  He promised me he had the title and I never got it. Sold it back to him and a week later he asked me when was he going to get the title. I told him I did not know I never got it from him! He said "what, that's the same car?" I said yep,  you should already have the title.

Really cool history. And with 57 chevys even better.

finally got the sign hung up, wired and lit up tonight. She does light up the garage pretty good. Now I can call my Uncle up, he's been calling me wanting to know if it was up so he could come take a look.

It would be hard to imagine having a more appropriate sign than that one in your garage.  A real beauty!  :)

Thanks guy's, I love it. I was afraid it would be to bright but it's not, it puts of a soft light. Now maybe I'll hurry up and get my body shop metal sign put up above it. Really looked cool from the street last night when I put the Vette back in.

I just got off the phone with my Uncle, told him it was up and lit. He started laughing and can't wait to get down to see it, and he thanked me!  I told he that was backwards, I thank you!

Now I have to clean the garage up..
