Rattiac, same here. I hope you get through this with out a lot of grief. You were there for him when he needed you. God bless man.
I know after my dad passed, i didn't want to talk to anybody for a couple weeks.

Had his funeral last Friday. I made a video for him. Had a small precession with his 24 harley trike in the lead and the 32 behind him. His casket was black with washed gold. Harley colors, red, orange, blue flowers. We stuck some HD stickers on and had his helmet on top. Towards the end we fired up the trike for a moment of silence and then lowered him down while bagpipes played.
After that I've been busy sorting out bills and financial. Alot to go through. Haven't even got to the vehicles yet. Im getting his 2019 jeep but im in no hurry to jump in that. Too new for me.
I figure it'll take me a year to get everything sold off and his house repaired to sell.
His neighbor wants me to move in badly. I'm honored but can't give up the shop.
His trike went to his brother which kept us out of probate.
I'm slowly putting out fire's but the whole mountain is on fire 🔥.
My boss says, one fire at a time is all you can do.

Yep, its bad enough getting funeral stuff done. Then you have that year of getting stuff sorted out. A trying time for sure, glad you are dealing ok with it.

Glad you have been able to get some of it behind you. Sounds like the funeral was a very special send off. All you can do is just chip away at the rest. Remember it was not his intent to saddle you with an undoable task. It is OK to just let go of a lot of it. You can vent here any time you need to.

Rattiac, i can relate with the family members thing. I've got an aunt that pulls that crap. Does none of the work/help, but wants to be in charge and gets others together pretending like she was a big help.🙄

Well I got a start on the vehicles. I have have a 94 chevy truck 2wd long bed, a 87 vette, and a 2007 motorhome to sell. Started with the truck , it's been sitting since summer. It had a dead battery and wouldn't stay running after jump start. Replaced the battery but still dies after 10 seconds. I cracked the fuel line (TBI)
should be 10psi but just a dribble. Probably fuel pump but am gonna check some grounds 1st. Great a project is all I need.
If it is the pump I'll probably just cut a hole in the bed.
The vette should run but not worth much here.. it's all restored paint, upholstery, engine, AC. Might post on bringatrailer.com
The motorhome is huge so I won't be keeping it. Not my style. Should help pay off his jeep though. Gotta refinance that cause his payments are in the $8-900 range. That's gonna gobble up his last few dollars real quick. Once all this is done I can put the house up for sale. Been slowly throwing away things while visiting there.

Glad you are making some progress but sorry there is so much to do. I hope I can get rid of a lot of my mess so my son's don't have so much to deal with. I am a bit of a hoarder and I've have a 50 year head start on them. It is only treasure if you can find the person who wants it.

Trying to make his last funds go farther so I had the jeep refinanced and brought it home to make room in his garage to work on the truck. Surprisingly the little 2.0 turbo is fast and the 8 speed trans is perfect for it. It sits in the backyard until it's paid off. Starting to look like a used car dealership here. Cargo trailer, 89 Mazda, jeep, Dakota, 32 tucked away. Trying not to get overwhelmed, just one fire at a time.
Cleaned the kitchen and one closet filled up the garbage cans. Have a co-worker and my transmission guy interested in the RV .
Found a ton of pictures I thought were lost when my mom died.
Me so new , I'm bloody .
Working on his other closet today with a ton of financial records dating back to the late 80's .
RV cleared out except his bedroom. Today I need to pull it out and get the slide out open to access drawers/closet. Some vacuum work and it's ready to sell.
Closed his account and got away from Zions bank. They will fee you to death. I prefer credit unions. Easier to pay bills now.

This can't be easy for you. Emotions in every drawer and behind every door. Don't feel guilty about getting rid of stuff even if you just toss it. He would not want to burden you with what he didn't clean up. A least that is how I feel about what I have collected here. What means something to me doesn't have to be meaningful to my sons. Hell, I have farm records from my folks in the '50 in Texas. Why? Do what you can that makes you feel the best you can.

While spending last weekend clearing rooms, was doing good until I came across his glasses. Got me all teary eyed. 😪
Making good progress on the house. His bedroom we saved for last (on the upstairs). Man he had statements and bills saved since 83. Was afraid to throw away anything financial . That's all sorted out and have the RV ready to sell. A coworker came by to offer a price for it, but lowballed the hell out of me 🤨. Wasting my time.
Posted it online for what others are going for and a reasonable price. Texts coming in left and right. 😊
Too cold to be outside so next weekend we'll tackle the basements.
Was supposed to get the pinion seal on the truck fixed today but had a dead battery. Probably needs a new one cause I used my jump pack from HF and it started up the day before but today nothing. Too cold to mess with that.
Oh well , on to the next fire.
Oh yeah. While locking up the RV, I noticed something crawling on the concrete. It was a spider about 3" diameter. Too cold for anything like that, except the brown recluse. Smashed him quickly.
Must like the propane.
