Title: Rear axle identification
Post by: munch on December 10, 2022, 03:54:32 PM
I have a GM rear end 3894859 that has 28 spline axles and the length is 28 1/2 inch from outside flange to end of axle. Thought the rear end was out of a 70s Camero, but I cannot find that length anywhere. It appears to be a 8.2 by the rear cover design and has the c-style clips to hold the axle in.

Does anyone have any ideas. As always, thanks.

Sorry..guess I don't fully understand the question.  Have a pile of GM rear ends in my barn.

The axles I pulledd out of this rear end need replacing. All I know is the code on the rear end is 3894859 N and it is an 8.2 supposably from a 69 or 70s era Camero. The axles are 28 spline and are 28 1/2 from back  of flange to end of axle. I cannot find any that length. Thank  Ed

Thanks Ed, soeey it took me so long to get back. I tend to get side tracked a lot lately. Right after I responded to you I located the axles. Thanks for the offer, all you guys are great...
