I spent the cleaning and getting my good old 76 Harley FXE ready for another season of cruising the back road on a nice warm day. I bought it new in 1976 and have been enjoying it for the last 46 years. The engine and transmission are totally stock and have never needed to come apart(knock wood) but the rest of the bike has gone through a number of cosmetic changes over the years . I used to ride it all over the northeast area but with the nuts that are on the highway these days I stick to the calm country roads in my area. Even though I've owned it for 46 years it comes on second to my 34 Chev that I bought in 1972. As you can guess I like to hang onto stuff that I like but there is a long list of other toys that have come and gone.

Nice bike, I bet it's good on gas ⛽. Been seeing alot of bikes these last few weeks.

Very nice. The only Harley I've ever owned is a few baskets of Hummer parts. A "safe" place to ride is tough to find. Several folks a year eat it trying to get down the hill from Virginia City every year. Sometimes a couple a day.

Brings back memories...my first "new" Harley was a 76 Lowrider...had it for many years...that's when they came with a kick starter!

Hey Ed I thought this image might bring back some memories. My brother in law bought a new lowrider back in 77. Over the years it went through a lot of changes that made it almost unrecognizable as a lowrider. A couple of years ago we decided to restore it back to its original state and it now looks factory new.

After Hot Aughst Nights there is an event called Rolling Thunder and it is a bike event. C Street in Virginia City is lined on both side for the full length of town & the parking lots are full. Several times I have gone from bar to bar and offered a beer to anyone who can kick start their Harley. I several years of doing this I have probably bought adout a dozen beers! ;D

Nice Bike Moose! I too have a hard time letting go with toys i really like. I'm on board with you on the crazies trying to run you over on the road. I pretty much give up highway riding after a scary trip in the early 80s. Got home and sold my road bike 3days later. Went back to my old '74 Yamaha DT 250 and gravel roads.
Dad took a nice built '69 Harley hardtail chopper trade in on a '66 Vette he had, back in the late 70s. I kept bugging him to let me ride it till finally he said..."Okay, if you can start it". 1st kick..nothing, 2nd kick...it kicked back and tossed me over the other side of the bike. He was laughing his butt off. 3rd kick..i jumped on the kickstarter with both feet and said See Ya!😁 I spent the whole summer on that thing, loved it.
