Let's discuss the pro's and con's of the EFI systems out there. MSD, Atomic, Fast, Holley's' FITech and others. What have you heard about them?

In 2008 another guy and I did a demo install of a Megasquirt and a GM TBI on my 270 GMC six at the Inliners International picnic at Bonneville. We had it running in less than an hour. There were a couple of problems that kept us from actually driving it but it ran great. I built the MS from a kit and the rest was junk yard parts. I was thinking of putting a turbo/injected 292 six in my '68 flat bed at the time. It was all there but I lost interest. Both the '53 pickup 270 and the  '68 with it's present 350 are set up for the Megasquirt GM TBI. Each would take about a day to complete, 3 or 4 days with the turbo. Just no interest right now. These conversions are pretty simple, even more so now.

I'm cheap so I used the GM TPI system on my 33 Chevy and other vehicles including my Chevy truck project.  Installed a Z28 LT1 system into my son's 37 Chevy.  The TPI system is a "bank firing system" just like the GM TBI system ie all injectors on the right or left bank fire at the same time.  The LT1 (and newer systems) are sequential systems. ie each injector gets it's own pulse in sequence from the ecm (better efficiency) .  I like the TPI for it's tough looks and it's still plentiful.

Make my own harness's, flash the ECM's to eliminate stuff like EGR, EVAP, anti-theft etc. Best to find a complete TPI donor car and swap the parts. I like the 90-92 Camaro/Firebird or 90-91 Corvette TPI MAP systems for my needs.

Moose discussed the TPI system here:

If any of you folks need help installing an OEM TPI system..it's a hobby of mine and would be glad to help, but like I mentioned..it's better to have a donor car so you have all of the odds/ends.
