I'm getting ready to put front fenders on my coupe, motorcycle type fenders. Problem is: 1. getting two of the same motorcycle fenders that fit, 2. Getting two of the same motorcycle fenders that fit and don't cost an arm and a leg. So, I was thinking trailer fenders, they are plentiful and cheap. Before I go out to the marine supply store, is this a stupid idea? What are you guys using?

Chopper I've built them out of trailer fenders before. Got mine from Tractor Supply, cheap several sizes to choose from and nice roll on the sides, easy to trim down.
Word of caution though (from my experience) make sure you build two flat strap supports too the under outside. Very prone to cracking otherwise.
I've used both of these before, sometimes you want a reveal, sometimes not.
long ones are about $45 a pair, short ones $30

I was thinking of motor cycle fenders awhile back for the buick, and a friend knew of a place that sells them used. I wonder if you got a cycle salvage yard around you.

I don't know of a cycle salvage yard around me that I can think of, but it's a good idea, something to look into. Again, I can't say that I have cheaped out on this car yet, but cost is a factor.

Northern Tool also has trailer fenders for less than $15.00 depending on the size

[/quo I like the short fenders best. Ther is a guy that runs the long versions on his 30's car and it just doesn't look right. To much fender over the tire I guess.

Thanks for the response, guys. I think I like the short ones too. I think I will give them a try, if for no other reason, just the cost. I don't mind cutting up a $50.00 pair of fenders. I will definitely make sure I use straps on the underside of the fender, good advice. Thanks again.
