Title: Engine RPM Calculator
Post by: EDNY on December 04, 2014, 08:23:52 AM
FYI only...just installed a link I have been using to determine engine RPM for various trans, tire heights and rear axle combos.

"Engine RPM Calculator" in the tech links/reference area...I use the bottom chart the most.

Ed, that calculator works great! I don't have a speedo or tach in my car yet, but I do have 4.56 gears! Looks like there will be no long distance highway cruises in my future any time soon. :-\

My 33 Chevy has 3.08 gears, 700R4 (.70:1 overdrive) and 29.5" tall tires...gives me 1596 RPM at 65MPH

Now the truck I'm building has a 5.13 rear gear ratio, NV4500 5sp with .73.1 final overdrive and 32" tall tires
that figures out as 2556 RPM at 65MPH...a bit more fuel consumption.

Ed that's cool!  I aways wandered what rpm my '57 (283-.060 over) was turning( never had a tach)when the whole car went into "Zen". Out across the Mojave at 103mph, everything seemed to go quiet. (3.36x28"x103xm22) looks like 41-4200 rpm was the magic number. ;D

I have a 350, .30 over with a TH400 and the 4.56's. I don't mind the fuel consumption, it's the engine glowing red after a 100 mile cruise at 60 mph!!
