Ed, it's just the attack of the Gremlins ;)  I had similar problem yrs back but all be darned if I remember what it was :-\

My buddy loaded up the Nova and delivered it back home this morn. I got a phone call this afternoon to meet the guy at the shop (good/bad?) The trailer showed up with a pretty nice '69 Elky on it.
The guy and wife were happy with the Nova, I think he was expecting a rough out, not ready to paint.

So he wants me to put new full qtrs on the Elky and misc other stuff. The only rust is in the lower rear qtrs, around the back window (had vinyl top) and below the lower edge of the dash. Man this thing has a perfect bed, no dents just a set of holes on inner bedside where tonahue cover brace was.

I finally got the '53 back on the road today. Its been down since the "Death Wheel" event. Different wheels, new front springs and hardware. new rear tires, new front brakes. During the fixing' the throttle cable broke and I got it back together today. New rear brakes next week and then it's on to the '68 flatbed. :) Little local car show tomorrow. I'll hang out a while it is at the bar!

Been working on the top header above the front windshield....didn't  fab anything for this...trying to figure something out that will work trying wood first but don't like how it's turning out....probably will try to  fab something from steel .......................Seen Sammons had these on his door when we visited him ....I liked the looks of them so I got a set....

Been using a piece of rail track for banging metal and always wanted an anvil (have a forge)...well anyway found one, stripped it and just gave it two coats of Rayflex synthetic enamel auto finish

Have a stand for it and may just use it for yard art ;)  Maybe paint my name or house number on it!

Check out eBay to see what these anvils sell for....crazy money.

Fatnlow those look good on there. Looks like you got a gasket to work.

Ed nice anvil. I have maybe a little bigger one out in the shed. I struggled to carry it out there when I was 29. Probably couldn't even scoot it now ;)

Add: Here is my little rail anvil I use all the time. (Handy and I can pick it up ;D)  It belonged to my buddies grandad. I can't imagin how long it took to trim it up to reseamble an anvil.

Took my 4 year old grandson out to New England Dragway for the New England Hot Rod Hall of Fame Show.  He had a great time and wanted to use my camera to take pictures of cars he liked.  He took all the attached pics except the one of him in the junior dragster.  He loves cruising in the 33 Chevy with me!

A natural born photographer! We just spent a week in Hawaii with both sons, our daughter in law, and both grandsons 2&4. The highlight of the trip was a hide and seek game one night in our hotel room. If you haven't played hide and seek with a 2 year old you are missing out. The smaller the space the better!  ;D
