Have you decided on a color for the 33?

Yes...Cajun Red is one of the names ..a color also on the new GMC Arcadia...but with modifications more pearl, silver flakes and a tad of gold flakes..discussed this with the paint shop and I told them we needed to make it pop a little and that what they suggested....the Red hood kinda sealed the color choice

A deep red is a classy color on a classy car, which you have. It doesn't need anything fancy. A lot of nice cars' looks are spoiled by the wrong paint.

I like that cajun red, it's not too flashy or fiery. It looks deep, almost with a hint of purple in it. Nice!
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

Wait?! Your wife took the motor out?! She's a keeper! That car has come a long way, hasn't it?

My wife has taken a few cars apart but she never used any tools to do it.  ::)

I have often said, if I ever am able to switch bodies with a woman, one of the first things I would do is learn how to drive. ;D ;D

Joking aside my wife is a really good driver. She is the best 4x4 pilot I know in deep snow and mud. The wrecks were not her fault. She just happened to be there. She did put our Cherokee on it's side once but no one could have done it more gracefully.  :)

Any have a sure fire way of removing the rod on the side panel of the hood that connects the side to the top....without using heat....last one I did was by heat, WD40 and hammering rod out...

Ed I didn't need head on mine, just some Liquid Wrench and a drive punch same diameter as the rod and a hammer.  If paint got in there could you put a little thinner along the hinge to loosen it?

T FOCH is 100% correct.  Use liquid wrench or some other rust buster nut loosener spray and really soak it  many times over a day.  Then use a NON tapered drift same size as the rod you want out, using a light hammer tap tap tap it.

Now if you can have a helper grab the other end with vice grips , have them twist rod while your tapping at it.  Combined should ease the removal significantly.

Next when putting it back together use 3/16 " STAINLESSS STEEL rod.  You will never have stuck hood side rods again.    Use some kind of belt sander or grinder stone to gently round over the one end for going back in.  Gently tap tap tsp to insert.

To seperate the top panels drill out the rivets and use 10/32 button head allen heads and nylocks with stainless washers.  Just snug the bolts not tight , you will distort the panel at the joint
