Steve....had a heck of a time😠 was suppose to be dark grey primer...mixed my primer up loaded in gun...wouldn't shoot....disassemble and clean gun out ..spayed a little bit....got my other gun....cleaned it before putting primer in....worked fairly well.... 1 hour job took 3 hrs......you think that black primer will darken my top coat ( sand is the name of it)...a Honda color...in single stage???....

Had to do that...."stop and clean" the primer gun myself several weeks ago😁   My favorite color of primer was dark gray, just not quite that dark.  The only time I ever had coverage problems was with translucent metalics with the darker primer. If you are running single stage acrylic enamel or urethane it should cover easy without being darker than the rest with that Sand color. Its probably a high solids color. (Unless its really thin stuff)

We didn't start sealing cars till '79, told dad it was good insurance😁 I used the premix Ditzler 1970 Sealer, great stuff back in the day. You shot what you needed and poured what you didn't use back in the can, no waste  like the 2 part crap they came out with later.
You could seal it with a light gray sealer. I've seen some in a rattle can, but can't vouch for how it works. I don't think you'll have a problem with it the way it is. ;)

Looks good Ed!  Did the tan cover the dark primer ok or did you have to put a lighter gray down first?

That looks real nice, how did it match the welting?
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

Steve....stayed with the black primer...  Wet sanded all parts...cleaned parts ..no tack rag...no sealer....I was super impressed with this single stage paint...covered really well....I think the black made it for these old eyes to really see as it laid down....      Chopper....the welting is just a  a shade darker...but it compliments the dash well...I like it...and the wife likes it
