I tried setting it there. Not enough room and the shocks would bottom out too soon .
At this position the axle will hit the bumpstops before the diff.

The pic doesn't show that it's just forward of the axle. I only have to move the brake line T an inch.
There's 6 inches of uptravel. 😱

Sounds good.  Stitch it in!
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

Looking into something else , I found some shock mounting info. Off-roaders and drag guy's will mount the shocks in front of the axle to prevent the pinion from going up and preventing axle wrap.
That's all I needed. Guess I'll finish welding it in.😊

Post some pic's of what you are doing, if you can.
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

I have the mounts all burned in.
My neck hurts from laying on my back,  holding my head up , helmet on and stick welding. 😛

Shocks are done. 😁

I know , it took long enough. 😉

I still need to cut tailpipe to move it more forward to get it away from the shock.

OH YA THATS FUN BIG TIME.   Now wheres the phone number for the hoist??  Sooner or later your going to have to bit the bullet and get one.  My ceiling at 8 ft is too low for one.

Mine is also 8ft .
I've seen people put em outside in front of the garage door.
That's all my neighbors need to see my rusty junk in the air. 😱😄😁

Guess I'm lucky. If the neighbors can see my rusty junk they have been trespassing for a couple of miles.  :)

Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll be getting this car back on the road. It's been sitting since October. 😢

Gonna leave a list here for stuff to check off.
1.) Install new fuel line at carb. (Check)
2.) Remove tailpipe and chop off 3" after muffler. (Check)
3.) Fix leaks near thermostat and trans cooler.
4.) Remove old ride control shock on left rear.(Check)
5.) Go for a drive and do a big long Smokey burnout. 😈
