Rochester Fuel Injection
« on: May 25, 2013, 06:50:16 AM »
I'm not sure how many of you guys play around with the old Rochester Fuel Injection systems that was used on some early GM cars ( You need to win the lottery to afford it)  but for those who do or for those who just would like to learn more about it here is some good information. A friend of mine had the system on his 61 Vette and we were never able to get it to run right. He finally opted to install dual quads and gave me the system. It sat under my bench for years and I finally found a "sucker" to buy it for a whopping $400.00 dollars. Take a look at what the systems are selling for on eBay today and see who the sucker really was. :-[

I bought 2 1958 setups with the distributors for $100.00 each, in 1962.
I put one on my 1933 3 window and ran it for years on it and on the drag strip.

I then put it on a 1960 Corvette and ran it for years.

Not many parts were needed to be changed beside s the nozzles.

If they sat very long the high pressure pump would sieze up.

I sold the other one for $200.00 some 3 years later.

The one I ran sold for $400.00  a little later on.

I could put the unit on any small block and have it run fine with only a couple minor adjustm, ents.

Can't afford to buy one now....

My older brother bought a 60 corvette back in 69 for a whopping $700.00 it was an original fuelly car numbers matching solid lifter 283 engine.  It ran great for a long time he even drag raced it, but when he got married the little vette sat in a one car garage for years until his death. I got hold of it to save for my nephew when he was ready. I got it to run for him, but it would never run the way it used to. He finally decided to sell the car about 2 years ago, so I helped him. Man those things bring great money these days. It went to Ohio to a collector so I believe it will have a great second life....John

*Its always a good idea to check prices on ebay as to POSSIBLE VALUE.  Anybody who has an original FI car and is missing it, really want that piece.

I think a lot of those 57--64 parts have been repo' ed and improvements made to make it a good operating system ?????  There is always somebody out there who totally specializes .size]

Kinda sad that a lot of them were used for door stops back in the early to mid 60s.
