From what I can remember the stock generator mounted pump puts out around 750 psi. You need to know what the requirement is for your steering gear. I would guess that it's more but I would have to research it. I think that there is a pressure relief valve in the pressure port of the pump that is controlled by spring pressure. You might be able to add shims to the valve to increase the pressure to suit the needs of your box.

The generator mounted pump wiil work with the newer boxes like 605 conversion.
I put one together on a 1955 Chevy and it worked fine.

Coley...Thanks for that information ,I'm going to try it . I'm going to start looking around and see what I can find. As above Tom found a source for a New pump and bracket, but I'd like to try the combined Gen/Pump first..

Thanks
Ray

Be very cautious on buying the used gen pumps.

8 out ten have the vanes and vane plates worn out.

If at all possible ask the seller to remove the pump and disassemble it.

I know. most won't want to, but keep looking carefully.

The vanes and plates are not being reproduced that I know of.

It will work. I used that setup with a mid 60's saginaw box from a chev van. Pump worked great, the gen,not so great, but I'm probably going to use the same setup when I do the rebuild.
