Saying goodbye to my best friend.
« on: October 12, 2021, 06:01:19 PM »
A few weeks ago Max had his 6 month checkup. He was really tired, not moving much. Testing said his blood platelets were low and they put him on steroids. That brought back his energy and everything but they said to get a scan of his stomach.
Today had that scan and it's cancer in his whole stomach/hip area if not more.  I said he ain't dying in a vet,  so we brought him home where he should be.
Having a mobile vet come here for the final shot.
Made him the best meal. He's sleeping with us tonight. 😪

Very sorry to hear this.  He's been a lucky pup to have you!

Damn Rattiac, so sorry to here about your buddy. Kick in the guts for sure. Cancer is a nasty b***h!  I had they Vet come to the house to put my 13yr old Golden down too.
Worth it to have him home where he belonged. Pancreatic and mouth cancer on him.

I feel your pain man! God bless Max!

Your life is better for knowing him and his is better because of you. Win-Wins are scarce. Be happy for you both. It is sad when it ends. It is OK to move on.  :(

Thanks guys for the kind words. 👍
We couldn't get a vet to come until tomorrow at 3pm,  so tonight we are having some family come with thier dogs (Max's friends) to say goodbye.
Kind of a wake.
He'll get one last ride in the truck and get a hamburger.

We went through this same thing with my son's Boxer a year ago. We were all there and the vet handled it very well. A sad but necessary decision and the best choice for the dog but tough on everyone else. God Bless. :(

I'm so sorry to hear about your buddy, and it sure sounds like you love the heck out of him. There is nothing can be said to make you feel better, but remember the good times and know you will see him again.

Max passed at 3:45 Thursday afternoon. He went quickly. We buried him in his favorite spot to sit in the sun in the backyard.
That was hard.
Wearing his favorite baseball jersey. He had a nice funeral with just us 3 . 😪
My wife is taking it pretty hard since he's been by her side 24/7 the last year and a half.
Amazing how these lil guys take over your life. There's hardly a spot in the house that he didn't have something like a bed,  bone, etc.  He's everywhere.
Even stuff in the shop. 🤤
Man what a dog.  He sure was loved by alot of people he brought joy to.
Thanks for your condolences.

Pics.  That morning the cat was laying by his side, grave,  and a pic from a 2015 carshow we went to.
Very popular with the lady's that day.

I was looking for a good dog quote and found these. I couldn't pick just one.

Here's one from me, "There are no dogs in Hell. That is worse than the heat and all the cats."
