« on: January 24, 2021, 07:31:45 PM »
Just got a new phone and this happened last time I got a new phone.  Google search doesn't bring up rustybowtie.com .

I had to get into my old  vcca thread to get to the link I left there,  to get here.
Just thought yall should know.

I have to get a new phone in the next couple of months. They tell me my old flip phone won't work any more. (3G) I hate getting new media stuff. By the time I learn how to use it it's discontinued.Last week I updated my laptop and I'm still trying to figure things out. My computer is slower and the new system eats our limited bandwidth from Hughes net. I liked smoke signals a lot better.  ::). I'm also trying to learn Fusion 360 to use for the roadster wood project. It will be a great way to create a set of plans if I can learn how.

I'm with you Sixball. I just got a new phone. It's a pain, everything does something different from my last phone. And there is no manual, you have to figure it out for yourself, ask someone, or try to find it online.

Well, We were waiting around for the dealer to fix some suspension stuff on my wife's Jeep and had a few hours to kill. We went to AT&T to check out a better plan and ended up with an unlimited plan that comes with 30G per phone (3) of internet hot spot capability for only $30 more than we are paying now. To be able to take advantage of my part of the increased data we than went to Walmart where I got a new Samsung Galaxy A11 smart phone for $45! It is huge. I may need a back pack to haul it around. I can't pack it and my 40 S&W. The simplicity of my little old flip phone is gone.  :( I'm overwhelmed but will somehow figure it out. I'm pretty much teched out with the new OS on my lap top, the Phillips sound system in the "new" pickup, learning Fusion 360, and this phone. Sorta stressed but there is no going back.  :)

By the way the Jeep dealer told us they are no longer offering the lifetime warranty we bought for the 2014 Grand Cherokee. They were/are losing too much money on it. Ours has paid for it's self. I don't think we should ever get rid of this car. Insurance pays for the glass and at least some body work and paint. We can have it reupholstered if needed and Jeep is responsible for alll the rest except normal service and brakes. There is a point where if the repairs are more than the car is worth they can replace the car. Today it was sway bar links. There was a $100 deductible. Without the warranty it would have cost $165 to check it out and tell us what was wrong before starting to fix it!  :o

Knock on wood....I bought a "Tracfone" Smart Phone on ebay about 5 years ago for something like $14...still using it. Actually bought (2) and gave one to my wife..she used it for years but just gave it to her sister.

Anyway the phone has "triple minutes" for text, data and air time and all three are tripled and carried forward as long as I own the phone..  I have to renew the phone every 90 days (about $20 before taxes). So for about $7.50 a month I have a cell phone with tons of "tripled" carry over data, text and air time.  Always have fun with my grandkids because I tell them the phone has a calculator and flashlight!

Tracfone got wise to the triple deal and ended it.  I picked up a couple of "triple minutes" SIM cards before they were gone.  I can put the triple cards in another phone and enjoy the triple deal continuously.

I'm returning it today, just too big to pack. It's not what I want or need.  :(

That's hilarious, almost as good as using Gorilla spray adhesive for  hair spray

No way!! I never heard of this one.  I just watched this, it is too funny and, unfortunately, stupid. This is a 40 year old woman, she should have a little more common sense. On the positive side, her hair stayed exactly how she wanted it. ::)
