Not the summer I had hoped for.
« on: July 20, 2023, 11:52:06 PM »
I was hoping to do a ton of fishing this year 🎣 and hangout with pop's. His 1st year of retirement.
I guess my dad wasn't feeling quite right just before our moab trip in the spring.  Had I've known I would have canceled moab. He just didn't seem like himself being kinda grumpy.
4 months later I get a call from my grandmother asking if he was OK.  I visited him and was shocked.  He couldn't keep much down and lost 50lbs.  Now on medication he can eat a bit.
My tough truck driver pa is so skinny.  😪

I'm sorry to hear your Dad is not well. I will pray for a speedy recovery and a positive outcome, my friend.

Sorry your dad is not well. I hope with meds and care he will recover soon. Praying the two of you will have summers filled with fishing to come.

I thought of you a lot while driving through the big country of Nevada, Arizona, & New Mexico on our recent trip to Texas.

Sorry he's not feeling well. Hopefully the medication gets him eating again and feeling better!

Just waiting on test results .

Improvement is a blessing especially with us old folks. Just seeing you can make a comeback is a big deal. Keep him going.

Dang, sorry to read about your pops rapid weight loss. Sure hope his meds get him eating and gaining that weight back. 50lbs in four months is scary as hell.

I've been slowly losing weight last several years,  but not from not eating. I eat enough for 2 people 3 times a day. Mine is muscle waisting from this damn R.A., I was down to 124 couple weeks back, use to be 147.

Thank you all for the well wishes.  They diagnosed him with "gerts".
Now with meds for that he can keep food down but did a bunch of other tests and revealed prostate cancer.  Bone tests also indicate it has spread.  He hasn't done a prostate exam in 10yrs.  😪
Sucks!!! He won't be able to enjoy his retirement.
Right now they have him on hormone therapy wich seems to help.

Damn Rattiac, sorry to here about your pop. That really sucks.
That happened to a friend of mines dad, early 2000's. Worked hard all his life in the concrete bussiness and owning his own company. Retired at 67 to make sure he had enough money to live well and enjoy his fishing trips. Died 2 yrs later. My friend was so upset he said to hell with it, him and his wife sold his cars, house etc. Bought a second hand Rv and boat and said he was going to enjoy his retirement at 45yrs old and go back to work when the money ran out.

He went down to Texoma lake area and became a fishing guide, still enjoying themselves😁

Damn, i went to Doc today to get a steroid shot for the pigweed alergy, got on the scale and... 115 🤯 Hell i'm disappearing. Lol, she grabbed my arms and said i was out of muscle now so the weight should stay there now.
