It's a shame some people are so blind to what is happening

They only listen to each other and attack anyone with a different idea. It is reassuring to see so many younger people catching on. Sadly so many of them are hampered by the education provided by the "people's public" schools and "higher" education since the '60s.

It is our responsibility to make sure, no matter what the schools teach our kids, that we keep them straight. We also have a responsibility to keep the schools straight, to the extent that we can. I also agree that the so-called tolerant left is only tolerant if you agree with them.

I'm a retired school teacher. You have no idea how deep this goes. This is a small rural Nevada town but all public education comes from the federal level filtered through the teacher unions and teachers who are the product of the liberal higher education system, very little local input. In some places schools have made parents sign forms saying they will not observe the remote schooling their kids are receiving during the lock down. We have a few generations of folks who do not have the education we do. School needs to stick the the 3 Rs and we need to do the rest.

Amen, Sixball! The kids need a good foundation so that, if and when they get to college, they are not easily brainwashed.

I was the president of our local teacher's association (union) in the 80s. It was getting pretty bad then. Clark County (Vegas) at that time was the largest school district in the US! It may still be. The rest of the counties had nothing to to say in whatever the union wanted. We paid dues. In order to belong to the local you had to belong to the state. In order to belong to the state you had to belong to the national. In order to get any protection from law suits from crazy parents and job protection from spiteful local school boards and administrators you had to belong to all three. There're a lot of good teachers out there but they do what they have to do to keep their jobs. "Teacher of the Year" could be Marxist of the Year. If COVID causes the public school system to collapse it may be a good thing.
Clark County now runs ALL politics in Nevada. We'd like to gift them to Commiefornia.  ::)

By the way telling a teacher they do their job because they love kids is like telling a bar tender they love drunks. Some kids are OK.  ;D

Sixball, what's your thoughts on kids and teachers returning to the classroom. No doubt the teacher's unions are strong, and I believe, lean left. In Philly, they are resisting going back to class using excuses of spreading covid to students and teachers. The kids have not been living in a vacuum all summer. And teachers are considered essential. I am essential and have been working through this whole pandemic and in my profession and personal life I know of 10 people who contracted covid, none fatal, none hospitalized. I can't help but think there's a lot of politics involved.

I feel it all political. I'm convinced the virus is real but not as bad as the fictitious numbers tell us. It will be all over come November

I don't know how we can plow through the BS and sort out the facts or even if there are any facts. Most of the people who died were old and had other serious problems. I'd like to know how many were terminal before COVID came along. I've read around 96% had  health problems other than age. Two families at my wife's church were infected about 30 people. No one else from the church got sick. Family members ranged from young children to grandparents in their 70s. One person was hospitalized. All recovered. The husband of a lady I worked with tested positive last week. He is closer to 80 than 70 and has lots of health issues. He is showing no COVID symptoms. In Virginia City, NV the bars have been open for a couple of months now. The day I was there I saw little compliance to the rules. The last I heard there had only been 2 cases in the county.

A week ago I had a heart valve replacement and leading up to that many tests, procedures, and appointments. There were safety  procedures in place but I saw lots of misses and screw ups. It's not perfect by any means. My grandson is trying to get back to school (1st grade) In the first week I think they did 2 of the 5 days. One because the teachers balked and two blamed on heavy smoke so they were told to stay home and inside. Isn't the classroom inside?

There are so many problems with public schools that I see no easy out. There seems to be no consensus on what to teach. We need to decide what a high school graduate needs to know. Some want them to be good employees who do as told for what the boss wants to pay. Some think they should all go to college to be screwed up further.  It gets crazy from there. We can't even teach them which gender they are. There are only two. Think of being in an elementary school  grades 1-6 with kids age 6-12 where every one of them gets to choose the gender they want to be every day. Do you want your 6 year old grand daughter in the bathroom with the 12 year old guys?

If by some miracle we could agree on what to teach there are not enough competent people in the country to do the job. The same goes for cops and every other group that needs smart caring people. Gee this a dark.  ;D

But I think the shutdown is BS. I think the numbers are bogus. I think the kids should go back to school. We have never done this for things that a far more harmful to children. I don't think we will ever make it back to the America we knew. I think the Dems will steal the election and the Republicans are too gutless to do anything about it. The real two party system is the Swamp and us. Both political parties are the Swamp Party! Trump is more interesting than the rest of them because they all hate him as much as us. I'd like to be able to see into Mike Pense's thoughts.  ::) That will teach you to ask me a question.  :o

I give thanks for and celebrate my freedom every day, as I'm sure you guys do to. I'm a Patric Henry kid of guy so when the freedom goes so will I. Sometimes it all overwhelms me. I never imagined such hatred of insanity. Oh well, We are in for a big ride between now and January 20th when Nancy, with a new hair do, will take over.  :o   ;D
