Fuel line from pump
« on: May 25, 2020, 05:11:26 PM »
How is your fuel line run from your mechanical pump ?
I've seen some ran under the engine over to the passenger side and up to the carb.
My distributor is up front so was wondering what others do.

Rattiac you just need to run your fuel lines away from getting any kinds of damaged and also heat sources! My 33 Ford with a sbc have a mechanical fuel pump on the passenger side with the gas line also going to my gas tank same side! My 34 Chevrolet Roadster I opted to use an electric fuel pump mainly because the ethanol gas damaged my 33 Ford sbc mechanical fuel pump diaphragm and then in turn dumped tons of gas into the oil! The good thing was that my 400 sbc motor got a good cleaning!

I'm with RoarsRods. I have a sbc with a mechanical pump. Mine goes up the passenger side, in front of the valve cover, then hangs a left into the carb. On my Mustang, which has the distributer in the front and the fuel pump on the driver's side, my fuel line comes up from the pump, over the timing cover in front of the distributor and hangs a right into the carb.
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

Here's my fuel line. Dont laugh, I was more concerned about the debris coming from the tank than anything (hence the dumb glass filter and I didn't know any better).
Tried to copy the original line.

Going to order a factory like line here soon.

Pic 3)
Installed the edelbrock elbow and gauge.
Had to move some wires around to clean up the area.
Got it fired up and the gauge leaks a tiny bit.
What can I use to seal up the gauge threads ???

actually shouldn't have to seal threads its pipe thread on both gauge and receiver and it has to be tight .

If you need it use PTS pipe thread sealant either tape or tube.

I happened to have some prematex high temp thread sealant.

Now that I notice the psi jumping around. I may be installing a fuel pressure regulator.
Snowball effect.
It's always something.

Hang in there Rattiac, iron out those wrinkles! It doesn't look so bad to me.
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn
