Be sure to post some pics when it's assembled and out in the sun!

That's awesome.  8)
I hope one day I can paint mine.

One of my car related things I did today.
Worked on a repo car. Normally the interior would have knife cuts all over.
Nope not this guy. Instead he tagged the gang name in writing you cant read with spray paint on the headliner. 😮
Points for originality I guess.

We did a little cutting and buffing today.  You all may or may not know this little trick. We had a small run on the back of the cab we wanted to smooth out. I  seen this trick on you tube where a guy took a magic marker and colored around and on the run,let it dry then sanded with a hard block.I tried it and it worked like a charm I was impressed how it highlighted the run, you sand til the marker is gone and the run is gone  ;D

62131 Thanks for the tip on paint. Since my paint usually has runs, that will help immensely. Ron

Good tip, Thanks.

I got a new to me 2006 Silverado yesterday to fill the daily drivers slot. It has a few dents so I'm good to go. Now I need to get rid of The '89 GMC 2500, '92 Suburban 1500, and '99 GMC Yukon 1500. Plenty of good parts to have at least one good driver if someone would take them all.

I spent a few hours trying to figure out the after market  HD radio/CD/DVD/Satelite/Bluetooth,Internet/touch screen/ thing in the middle of the dash in the '06. It will take a while but I can play the radio now.  :)

Still picking away at the '06 Silverado. I put new latch pins and snubber bumpers in the tail gate and quieted a big rattle. I put a new top on the console and repaired the latch and it works great. I couldn't shift into low gear though in drive it went through all four. I took it to a friends shop to have a new shift cable installed and now it works fine. I had to replace the outside access door handle on one of the rear doors.

I adjusted the backup camera that is part of the after market radio thing. I'm slowly figuring that out too. It is a pretty clean truck for it's 14 years and getting better. I'm looking for a storage unit for under the rear seat. There is not much storage space  otherwise.

My car related this week was... repaired a air bag on a Porsche. The car sat at the dealership for 2 years waiting for a new cover to show up which never did. The guy got fed up and filled a lawsuit with the dealership and Porsche.
Once we saw it, we had them pull the other seat to so we could replicate the bag itself (part of it was missing). This bag is made of tough material that is sewn to the inside of the cover. It's purpose is to direct the airbag itself out of the seam.
Also replaced a panel that was torn. Had it done the next day.

While it was warmer yesterday I insulated the floor on the trailer. Should help with those colder nights.
Used construction adhesive and they fit tight between the beams.

That should help. How thick is it? How are you going to seal it?

My car thing today was trying to program a remote lock key fob for the new pickup. It didn't work like the directions said it should. I'll have to check the on line manual I found and some internet videos.

It's the 1" stuff I had leftover from the walls. No need to seal it. I glued it up with construction adhesive and it fits tight between the beams.
Others have done the same with no issues years down the road.

One of the coldest and most miserable nights I ever spent was sleeping in the bed of my pickup in Cheyenne Wyoming. My body heated the bed and the wind cooled it. The wind won! Sleeping on the ground would have been warmer and an inch of foam would have been nice. ;D

My car related activity for the last 3 days was removing the  6L80E trans out of my GMC Sierra. Trans went from good to bad in 7 miles, but made it home. That fluid was burnt to H---. Absolute nightmare removing it. Next time I see a GM engineer I gonna slap him silly. Buttholes. Theres enough crap in the way you can't see the dang bolts even. AND who puts an Oxygen sensor right under the exhaust manifold bolt. Had to cut crossover pipe because of that.
And my water truck is down also, so have to drive the old Lexus which is worthless in the snow.
So I didn't get to work on the roadster at all and probably won't the next week or so.
Rattiac.. That insulation should work  well.
Sixball. Those trucks that year were  good trucks. Hope you get everthing sorted out. And you right about sleeping in the bed of a truck and hard on the back too. Ron

Ron, You are a better man than I am! I choke just looking under these things. I had a guy rebuild the 700R4 in the '92 Suburban and it's going back to him a soon as i can arrange it. It leaks, the Throttle body is stuck and he never even noticed that the guy I got it from disconnected the trans cooler so the rebuild may be gone.

Cars are "engineered"  for the ease of assembly with no thought to repair. At first they were "engineered" to last and every component could be repaired. Next components were replaced rather than rebuilt and now the whole thing is disposable and "engineered" to make repair so costly that buying a new model the only choice. I'll never buy anything newer than the '06 I just got. It is a few years on the new side of what I care to learn. If I use the next couple of yers getting a couple of my old ones on the road I'll likely squeak by.  :o

I know what you mean.  I just did the rear brakes on my daughter's late model SUV and had to rent a special tool to compress the piston into the caliper to get the new pads to fit.  What should have taken 45 minutes took two hours  >:(
I prefer working on vintage stuff!
