Yep. It's almost done.
That shop had the nerve to re-use the original pads and trim-sticks  >:(. We wont do a top on these unless it gets all new hardware. Most of these cars have already been molested a few times. Ain't worth doing it without hardware.

Already been thinking long and hard on the trailer.
Even have a floor plan drawn up. Also a tiny wood stove may be installed one day.
Once I order, I'll have a few weeks till it's built. More time to think.😉

Forty years ago I let a shop put a top on my '67 Mustang and they didn't replace the pads....I didn't know any better. I still have that same top on my car, although it is starting to look like a new one is in order.

At that time it probably didn't need it.
Once they start pushing 40-50 yrs old they've had a new top a time or two , things start to rot.

Here's the new top done. When I pulled it out I was shocked at how bad the brakes were , pedal almost to the floor. Kinda scary.
Cant believe this place "mustang ranch" would let that drive around. Goes to show how BAD thier work is (The top and brakes). They need to go back to doing insurance work.

Looks good Rattiac! How in the world did they tear the corner?  Cheap top or just yanking on corner to get rid of wrinkels, (which it appeared to be in the wrong direction)? Never seen that before, top material is usually pretty tough.

Was out of funds to buy primer/thinner for coupe, so.....took on door repair for my buddy Tom's '58 Viking. This is the door off doner truck, both had a bit of rust in the bottom, but his Viking had a hard crease  from combine hit.  Not much rust showed outer, inner didn't look bad till i started media blasting. Nothing is ever easy these days!

Sorry for fussy pics, best i can do. >:(

Jabbing, stabbing, wire brushing, i believe i found all of it. Now to figure out where to cut and how to make the patches. Yep, i get myself in deep sometimes ;D

Just got my trade already. So when i'm done with Tom's truck parts i will have materials to continue on the coupe.

Top too tight. You can always go tighter but you can never go back up. The other side was torn also, they tried going back up but holes show and eventually tore.
From what I hear this is the 3rd top they ruined.
Money down the drain.

watching barrett Jackson auction on Friday nite, have seen about 5 ford woodie wagons in the  40--48 era cross the block, amazingly at $70G tops they are not getting the expected $$$.  You see these advertised all over the internet at $100G plus.   Just goes to show you the market for older 30-40 cars has collapsed downward.

Have seen 32 ford roadsters go for way less than what you would assume, a couple of them went for $32...34 G earlier today.  We are talking steel cars here not glass.

Went to Helper today.  :)
Spanish Fork canyon had snow yesterday, roads were good. A few spots had snow blown over the road.

Worked on the details with the lady at the dealer. Put a deposit on the build and towed a 6x12 (flat nose). Could hardly get to 65 mph.

The jeep is in need of some work, seems down on power. Probably check for codes (no CEL light) and ditch the factory muffler.
Hello glasspack 😁💨.

Should be built in about 4-weeks. Probably go pick it up at the factory. That Spanish Fork is steep leaving Helper.

Watching barrett Jackson auction and theres an tv ad for a new show......using the theme of FORGED IN FIRE........well premise that with KINDIGIT is that 10--or 12 people , women--- men will do their best and reward is getting employed at KINDIG.

Bring on the clowns ,  the shows producers has a great thought, steal idea from another show and lower the level of IQ of the viewers..  Lets take the best automotive show on tv and make it CRAPOLA by dragging the shows creator over to the lowest level .

Maybe they can also work in that other one where animals are biting these people.

stupidity knows no bounds

Well, more tractor related. The main water delivery line between the water tanks on the hill and the house and outdoor faucets broke. Probably just ground shift over 40+ years or a weak glue joint. I got a hole dug down to it with the bucket on the tractor after ripping the frozen ground with a two bottom plow. Today I have to crawl in there and dig around an fix it. Meanwhile I'm hauling water from the springs for our basic needs. I'm peeing outside a lot.  ;D The hole is big enough to bury a car.

Careful with that hole, dont want it collapsing in on you. The construction workers use 2 big steel plates with 2 beams welded inside near the edges to prevent that. Or maybe cut the walls back at a angle. Stay safe.
I want to go out to the shop today but the cold. 😉
Ordered a cherry bomb with angled ends due to my offset muffler. Shouldn't be too loud since it's long and have the factory cat.
Would have gone a different muffler but I like something I can see through and if the cat breaks up it shouldn't clog up.

Hey, Thanks. I'm headed out now. I gave it a while to warm up a bit. Luckily it isn't as cold here right now 34 on the porch and almost cloudy sunshine in the hole. It's really only 4-5' deep and no worrisome sides. That's why I used the tractor and moved a lot more dirt than needed. Last summer I cracked a rib leaning over into a small deep hole to replace a frost free faucet. I sure beat my hands up yesterday. One of my pinkies is undamaged.  ;D  Just have to get too it'. I'm pretty sore from yesterday and not as tough as I used to be. Hopefully a couple of hours of digging and then a break for a parts trip. Then a glue up. I'm missing my good friend's memorial but he knew how much we like indoor plumbing.  :)

I'll be following the trailer and Jeep story tonight after a nice warm shower.  8)

I finished by the tractor headlights. Seems to be working fine and a warm shower felt so good. Sometimes I don't appreciate the basics. I'm not as bad as some because I have to make it all happen here but I love it when It's all working.
